ok just to be fair i am going to tell you at some point this week i am going to auction off 4 neve modules
first to meet the price wins
4 x 3415a modules - good to rack up as mic pres but currently raw untested

these modules give you the same configuration as a 1081 mic pre and are the best one for this application

transformer in / out all discrete - the whole deal
but they will be no good to you unless you rack them up .

while we wait for the timing of the auction what would you guys prefer....
2 sets of two channels , 1 set per TRM member but not auctioned at the same time
or 1 auction of 4chn so the lucky buyer gets 4 chns of real neve pres..?

discuss this amongst yourselves while i get rob to see if i still have those above mentioned modules on his shelves

i owe Rob some money that is getting a bit long in the tooth , so all proceeds will be going direct to his upcoming holiday fund

2 lots of 2 ( 1 buyer each ) or 1 lot of 4 at a cheaper rate ..?

no backdoor deals , no questions to me .. do your own research or share your thoughts here but leave me out of it .

i will put them up when i feel like it and when i am sure MATT 13 beach is on the toilet ( just to be fair because as you know he is very fast )

i will give you a day at least grace before i load the starting gun

Cool. I'd selfishly like 2 lots of 2 ( 1 buyer each ) but I probably can't afford either at the moment. I Just bought a bloody reverb box.

HAHA! Well consider me on the toilet for this one Rick (unfortunately). I'm too busy right now buying cabling, insulation, glass, timber etc, so I won't be in the race.

However in my defence, It's not that i was fast to grab those Rola's, I think everyone here was just a little slow.

hey rob is out of town untill the weekend so i wont start the neve suction untill he actually find the things we are selling , so that means you have a few more days to save up :)
did you know sunday night is the busiest time on the forum ...?
mark gave me the key to the gate so when he is not looking i am in charge and i can let some wierdos slip in :)

so maybe sunday night maybe monday morning ... maybe before :)

you know i am only having a 5 min auction for a laugh maybe i will stall it or just do one and wait for a full house .. or ..?
the vote seems to be for 2 pairs - only one per member
they will be $1000 (a pair... see if the GS moderaters are ever that nice to its members ! ) if you cannot pay dont play etc.

i'll drop a auction post when we have actually made sure i still have them and i need a chuckle

btw if any body else feels the need to PM me before the auction(you guys know who you are )

most stuff takes about $850 to rack up nicely but you could do it gorilla style way cheaper

Go ahead and play by your whim's Rick, I think the board will collapse under the straing of waiting... I'm not that desperate for Neve modules and you'll obviously find plenty of willing buyers. I (and probably everyone else) appreciate that this forum is nothing like GS and if you want to play benevolent overlord for your own amusement every-so often it's not my place to make up the rules.

Yeah, count me out for Neve's at the moment - I need to finance the Byer 66 service that I won from Rick.. Rob is going to schmick it up for me..

i'm back and the Neve 33415 modules are on the bench

can't say what the condition is, but there is nothing in these that isn't easily repairable

of course there will be a little bit of recapping required and if you want some really rocking preamps, you should get this done to them :

and yes, I know these modules are 33421, but the process, end result and look and feel is the same. Estimate to do a pair of these is $850

"The 33415 doesn't have a 2567 output transformer... I'm sure that's just a typo on your part.

The 2567 is an ungapped version of the 1166 in a 1272 and it wouldn't fit inside a 33415 with a crowbar's worth of effort.

It's a horrid T1751 (Marinair) tertiary output transformer in those modules that must be terminated 600 ohms or else it's sibilence city."

not sure if horrid is quite the adjective that applies here, nor is sibilence.

600 ohms terminatation makes it flat as, at supersonic frequencies. Without the 600 ohm termination there is a rising response up to a few dB at around 40kHz from memory, making it maybe 2db hot at 20kHz. Can you hear this? Perhaps, and perhaps this could be called "air"
Add another $5 to the cost of the racking job and I can make this output loading switchable, we can call the switch "air" or even sibilence....or...

and remember that 1073 etc etc are all similar in this regard to output loading

wow dale this is the best bit of subdifuge i have ever seen on the trm forum , that'll scare em off !

same output trannie thats in a 1081 . or everywhere in 8078, or all over the line drivers in the 8026 that went out of here the other month
