good price to sell album?

Postby jkhuri44 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:00 pm

gday guys,

just wondering what ur thoughts are on a good price to sell a full length album for?

3 of us in the band are thinking 20 bux (if boiught cash in hand)

15 bux + shipping, if online.

Someone else in the band reckons we should sell for 15, even in person as well....peoples thoughts on what independant bands should be charging for albums?

I reckon for a full length album $20 is fair. Though if someone at a gig only had $15 would you say no?

Maybe approach some Japanese Manga companies too. :)

what.... you're actually making a physical album?!?! hahaha...

We always did $20 at gigs, but we gave them away for whatever the punters had on them too... it was about spreading our music, not making money for us though, so what we actually "made" didn't really matter. Can't be everyone's attitude, but it worked for us... the trick was stopping the scammers bludging one off us once they people realised how generous we were.

It's $17 on iTunes with nothing physical. As long as your artwork is cool I'd say $20.... but the artwork better be schmick.

We're selling ours for $15 in person or $20 including postage. We figured it's a bit cheaper than most other metal albums in Australia and about what they cost in the USA.

Bear in mind our costs are nil+pressing so we don't need to recoup studio expenses etc...
