Can you connect a Digi 002 to a Presonus digiMAX 96k?!?
Just wondering if these two connected via ADAT lightpipe will give me a total of 16 channels of 24bit 96k inputs. According to the Avid specs the 002 should have 24bit 96k in's accross the board including the ADAT lightpipe. reason beeing is 'cause I own a Ta@#$% MS-16 1" Multitrack tape recorder and would love to trasfer the takes in one pass on to pro tools for editing.......... If anyone can shed light on this it would be much appreciated :-)

the dig 002 adat maxes at 48khz - it does not support s/max (?) which is the interleaved high sample-rate offshoot of adat.
so, you can track 16ch. at 24/48, but you won't be able to make the prosonus operate at any higher than 48khz via adat into the 002.
anyway, i believe at the higher sampling rates, you only get four channels per adat pipe (halves channel count).
so even if the 002 could take 24/96 up that adat, it would give you an additional 4, not 8 channels.
ha ha - take 24/96 up the adat. snicker snicker.
only 2channel the s/pdif i/o supports 24/96.

You''ll also need to ensure the two 002's are clocked correctly if you want to keep exact phase across the tracks..

Thanx for the tips........ looks like I'll just have to settle for dumping in two passes... I just thought that if it could be done then I'd give it a shot, that's cool........ on the bright side, I'll save $2000 on a presonus and put it elsewhere.
Cheers!
