Who's using Coles' 4038 on strings?

Just took delivery of one of these lovely specimens from the US. Keen to hear from anyone who may record for score/TVC/film and has great results using this on strings. Just a dialog starter really...

I know this doesn't help, but if i had one i'd love to put it in front of a cello.

im sure a 4038 would sound great for a specific application... just as a condensor would sound great in another! :)
would just have to depend on the tone of strings ur recording, i can imagine for cruder string instruments, a 4038 would probably be a noice choice !
i may think twice about using it on a million dollar stradivarius though (unless the sound floored me)

I haven't used them on strings, but I have used them for overheads. They are THE best overhead mics in my opinion.

i used 1 as a room mic on cello about a month ago and it sound incedible. it was placed about 1.5m in the air, and about 2-3m back, in front of the player

cello > amazing room > 4038 > quad eight coronado > mytek 8x192 > tools
