It's coming and actually I'm very keen for this release, some of the new features are going to make life soooo much easier.

"Homegroup" is a feature which is really going help with a network, being able to send files and stream audio/video to any device/compter on the network running windows 7 as if it were all on 1 HDD. This will be an awesome feature. Also you'll be able to instantly access files from you're work/home pc from anywhere via the net.

Also will have better backward compatability, you should be able to run a 64 bit DAW and still use 32bit plugins.

Thing will be more responsive and start and shutdown faster.

Also once you're set up for 64bit you'll be able to use way more RAM than is possible the the 4gig we can use now. Could take a year or 2 for audio software/interface companies to fully support 64 bit but it's gonna happen.

RME already have drivers for windows 7 and Cubase 5 has a 64bit version so things are looking good already.

I'm gonna get it as soon as it's available.

You can get a free beta version now if you like. The footprint is reported as being equal to XP. which is great considering how big the Vista footprint is. I'm currently running Vista 64 and it's actually quite stable. I'm still, however, running Nuendo4 32bit. The bitbridge in Cubendo is clunky. So best to stay 32 bit until the plugin companies go 64.

There is, however, a third party bitbridge that apparently works really well. It's called jbridge and can be found here http://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/ . It bridges your 32 bit plugs to 64 bit very smoothly. Apparently also cure some clicks and pops in some 64 bit systems. Cheap too.

I too am looking forward to windows 7. Hopefully it will be the end game for me in the PC stakes.

I had a play with the beta a couple of months ago. It seemed stable, though I didn't really use it for anything taxing.

If you're comfortable with Vista you'll find your way around in it pretty easily. I hate Vista and still run XP so I had a hard time figuring out how to do much outside of the start menu.

Yeah cool Pete, I'm running Vista on my laptop though it's 32 bit. I'm keeping my main system on xp for the time being though will have a dual boot with windows 7 on it's own drive. I am going to set up Cubase 64 bit version on my new lap top with windows 7 (once released properly) and get used to it and see how compatable everything is.

I've tried the Beta as well and it seemed to work great. The homegroup thing is what i'm really keen on, i was wondering about routing stuff around my house, being able to stream from computer to other devices should be great, providing it all works smoothly. even just being able to transfer files immediately will be a huge bonus. Who knows what apps will come from this also.
