Needs an Ilok.
Never tried it but since I've already got an Ilok I'll give it a whirl.

Hey Thanks Tunetown!
Got my iLok license. From what I understand it's a 'never expire' license. So that's so cool!
BTW, tried the Tech21NYC SansAmp included with PT LE 8? Man that's such a cool little plug-in! I can't believe from 8 or so knobs you can get so many different types of amp sims! I used it on some Bass with a piece-of-junk Sterling 5 String (was a mistake) and it's the best sound I've got from it so far! A little bit of compression happening and great energy from it. I was floored! I need to clean it up a little - but it's better than any Amplitube 2 bass preset I've tried!

No Probs.
I generally don't use amp sims but the price was right. I don't have a chance to check it yet, but, on the amp sim scale, how does this one rate?
Cheers

I had a brief play with it last night and I'm really loving it. More realistic than I expected! Defenetly give amplitube 2 a run for it's money! The marshall and vox amps were superb...
And as a guitRist it felt good while playing

ok. so i have loaded up the ilok licence.
was there a sotware download required as well? i haven't been able to find the actual RTAS plugin the the ilok licence enables.
anyone anyone?
obviously you lads have made it work, so is it just as easy as loading the ilok licence, or something more to it?
(of course i'll give it a try in a little while, but it never hurts to ask . . .)

Chris,
On the Line6 site, go to Downloads, product is Ilok, software is Podfarm, then choose your operating system. Here's a link http://line6.com/software/ .
I'm on Vista / Nuendo so don't know about RTAS.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

It took me a little while to figure this out too – especially as all the installation instructions detail how to get your iLok license but not where to get the software...

Is it true that it screws with any Line 6 stuff one may have previously installed, like Amp farm ??

Don't know. I hope not, as I posted the link. I don't have any other Line6 products. Works a charm here. I played with it yesterday and it works fine. I don't think it'll beat a well recorded amp but it's got some useable sounds for sure.
Whoever has previously installed Line6 products, please research before installing.
Cheers

BTW, been playing with this more last night. Funnily enough not with guitar amps!
I've been using some of the mic preamps on vocals and bass and it's very nice. Now again I don't have golden ears and I'm desperately trying to get some mixing hours under my belt but using these preamp emulators are one of the most unique EQ's I've ever used. Very interesting switching between the different types. I really like the 'modern' one which looks like an avalon knock off. Applies it quite transparently and really has some EQ headroom. (I found that subtle changes worked best).
Seems to add that 'velvet-like' quality to the top end of the vocals. Added definition to bass lines to make the signal more controllable.
The american and UK 'vintage?' models as I remember seemed to be 'dirtier' which no doubt is useful in different scenarios. But again I was impressed with how it applied to EQ to the original signal.
I've never heard the analogue gear, so I'm afraid I can't make a very good review of it - but for FREE I suppose it's worth the hassle of the iLok and ....trying to find the download. Yeah took me 10 minutes to find what I needed to download.
I hope this iLok license doesn't expire because I find this plugin very useful in a variety of uses...
