Leon Zervos & 301

Postby James Chia » Fri Sep 18, 2009 2:51 pm

Just got an email that Leon Zervos is with 301 now. The man mastered the latest Dream Theater record, which happens to be one of my all-time favourites!

By the way I'm new here, so hi everyone!

Don't appologies mate. I'm sure the lads at Trock can handle it. It was an honest comment that meant no harm.

........Just never speak THAT number again.. haha!

Rick is booked solid for months. He'd be the first to say you can go and master with whomever you please. Ixnay on the Ychopantsay.

leon started at 301 about the same time i started at festival , maybe the year before
he also left for new york when i left festival ( end of the vinyl cutting days )
i wondered for a while wether i wanted to go to new york and live the dream
but i decided i didnt like america enough to give them the best years of my life

leon ended up working at sterling sound married an aussie girl , has a kid and is finally coming home to live
back to 301 - full circle really

i certainly wish him and his all the best - he is great guy

there seems to be confusion about which city he is going to though ..?

the interweb says brisbane - where his wifes family lives , tom is blagging to all that will listen that it is sydney .

its as clear a mud to me

but as a general note in regards to mastering engineers if we work on your favorite album , you must make the distinction between the M.E being good enough to get the gig , and having anything at all to do with the songs

mastering guys polish the car after its painted we dont design the shape :)

Hi there,

Ahhh...just been on holiday with the family for a week (as though my lifes not one big holiday !) and picked up the Misner Factor from a bookshop . Interesting read....seems like he's pissed off a lot of people !
Funny how he ended up with 301.
Wonder what his business is like now with the GFC ??

I wonder if Leon's bringing back his amazing 1 inch ampex 2 track?
It would be nice for it to reside in Aus

Is it a MasterMonster or an ATROneTwo? Either way I'd like to see that up close.
