broken roland R-880
I bought this off ebay on a whim a few weeks ago. had a quick look at it, and it seems to crash when powering up. I have no real idea what's wrong with it, and no time to spend on it for a while (too many bigger priorities) could be power supply noise, could be a cracked PCB, could be dead ICs. no idea. not my problem. also, there have been really hacky mods to the digital i/o section. metal case is pretty rusty (wish the damn ebay seller had noted this in the auction.)
FREE. no postage.
sold
w/ working GC-8
the controller is working (though the metal case is also a bit blemished though I wouldn't call it rusted) and comes with the R-880 programmer card so at the very least this would make a nice spare for someone with a working R-880? otherwise if you're brave and want to fix it up, maybe you'll have good luck.
$89 is what I paid.... (prefer not to do postage - unless you just want the controller)

sold
Alesis monitor one mkII monitors (great condition) w/ RA-300 power amp (not working well - some kind of contact or capacitor or silicon problem where the sound drops out, and you can blast it open by increasing the volume through it. then it works properly for a while..... I can't be bothered trying to fix. I just blasted the volume every now and then.
$200. no postage.

samson mpl 2242 compact mixer
this is 10 mono in, 6 stereo in, to a 1-2/3-4 alt bus configuration (to a stereo master out) Has 4 band EQ on all input channels, 6 sends (though 3,4 and 5,6 are more meant as stereo sends) and 4 stereo returns. all 10 mono channels have mic preamps, and there's a global phantom power switch.
I had this since new. just stopped using it a few years ago. metal rack rails are a bit blemished, and the nuts on the 1/4" jacks are looking a bit crusty but otherwise all looks fine. I think all the I/O is good, but haven't checked. sold as is. If you want it all checked I can do that, but if I spend the time to do that and it's all working like I expect, I'll increase the price.
$200. plus postage.

TRIO CS1560A - 15MHz analogue oscilloscope.
this works OK for audio stuff, except one channel is not very happy.... so as is, it's a basic 1 channel CRO. Would probably be an easy enough fix for someone with basic electronics? at least the HV stuff in it is all good... :-) comes with one probe.
$100. no postage.

Hey,
given recent verb discussions I'm interested in the R880 but wondering if there's anyone on the board who could turn their hand to fixing it?
I would have no idea where to start...
[EDIT]
actually after five minutes more thought I don't have the inclination to venture down that rabbit hole - remember reading something about the PSU's tending towards failure...

Sounds exactly the same problem I have with an RA-150 amp..............I gave up searching for dry joints, etc., and put up with it.
ChrisO.....I think. Oh, and F*#K Google, ask me!

Ok... looks like GC-8 is gone, and alesis monitors are gone. (both sold, pending payment)
so - one broken R880 - FREE. could be good to fix, or good for parts - thirteen??
The samson mixer is still available. updating description now...
adding a CRO.

I kinda suspect bad contacts somewhere. Think it's quite possibly the relay terminals.... but I'm not a tech and never looked. It's usable as is, and I've got more fun things to spend time looking inside.
I hear the problem shows up pretty often with their amps..... maybe you and the buyer of my RA300 can get together and go after alesis with some kind of class action lawsuit?
