Hi all.

I have some gear for sale. I have been diagnosed with cancer this week and will be selling some gear that I love, but can always buy again when I come out the other side of this. But right now my family needs some cash reserves as I enter chemotherapy and will most likely be unable to work.

The prices of these items are fixed and I believe they reflect market value. They are all in first class condition with light TV post production use. Please don't send messages with offers. I'm sure you will all understand why. Prices listed do not include postage. Local pick up is ok.

I hope your treatment goes well and you're up and running again soon. My mum got diagnosed with breast cancer about a month ago it really sucks.

Look into some of the anti-cancer diets out there - a lot of survivors swear by them but doctors don't seem to mention diet much. I figure it can't be a bad thing.

Hey Micheal - this is sad news
My mum just had both breasts removed from cancer
The Chemo nearly killed her - so she stopped as life was not worth living if you are going to spend it so sick from the "possible only one approach to a cure"
All the doctors wanted her to keep going, but they never mentioned that there is no real evidence that the chemo would work - she is still in a bad way after 12 months since the chemo.
They also did not mention the fact that the chemo would severely affect her brain (check out chemo fog on the internet) Making it near impossible to read and write - and my mum is a resercher and an avid reader.
Its such a sad thing to watch someone you love at the mercy of all of these experts who only know and recognize everything through the lenze of the medical community's "facts"
Diet is important - i have heard of people curing cancer from eating crushed apricot seeds - there is a lot of info out there on that too.
Its worth trying everything one can throw at it - and a belief in that there is only one way(medical or natural therapies) or another is extremely narrow minded as far as I am concerned.
Research is the answer - at least one can make informed decisions

I'm finding lately that cancer is not just a thing we hear about, but is infact effecting people around me. We all think we can't be affected by something like this, and that it only happens to other people, we will be ok, but this just is not the case. Kris I wish you all the best to a speedy recovery, and to the rest of us (myself included) please get yourself checked out, because you just never know hey. Early detection is vital.

Now someone buy some of Kris's stuff hey. And no usual low ball offers like $80........or a pack of Iced Vovo's.

Kris, very sorry to hear, a shock really, you sound like a tenacious bugger so I reckon you can beat this, keep a good frame of mind and try to keep your chin up, I think attitude has a lot to do with getting better.

Brain surgery nearly killed me but I'm still here and tough as ever. I just made myself get better.

My thoughts are with you too.

Thanks guys. I'm only 34 so it's a surprise for sure. If any of you guys ever get things happening in your body that aren't 'normal' but also aren't too out of the ordinary, please go and get them checked out. The body has ways of telling us things aren't right that we don't always pay attention to. What's that saying.... an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure?

If you don't mind me asking Kris what did you notice wrong? Me I just keeled over and had like 7 or 8 seizures and started going blue after never having 1 in my life so that was an obvious one, but cancer can be more subtle I guess? Don't feel you have to answer mate if it's too personal a question, just interested in the warning signs.

No problem. For me it was a little blood every now and then when I'd go to the bathroom (which could have been a few non-nasty things) and a very active abdomen after meals, like lots of gurgling which I just put down to 'gas'. That was the primary cancer in the bowel. Further from that it was an aching right shoulder and what felt like a stitch on my right side (like when you go running). This was the secondary in the liver causing the liver to swell a little and push on the abdomen and a nerve that runs up that side of the body. Because I was so busy with working and home life and trying to balance the two, I just kept putting it off. I thought a lot of it was due to the heavy work schedule I had and just being run down and over-worked. Let me tell you, if you have anything that doesn't feel right, you must go and get it checked.

I'm fortunate in that I am young and strong (apart from the obvious) and I will likely be able to take a hefty dose of chemo and get back up again. On top of that I have a lot of people praying for me and I have seen that work many, many times. So between medicine and miracles I'm thinking things will be ok. Am I frightened? Yes. I have a beautiful wife and two sons under three. There's not a single thing I can do to fix this. I have to trust that my God will get me through it. I'm totally powerless. (It's ok if you don't buy the God angle... I'm not offended and I'm not here to preach.)

I'm not kidding myself about the journey ahead. It's going to be painful and my body is going to take a beating, not to mention my mind... but I won't lay down. I have too much to live for to just roll over. As far as I'm concerned, I just heard the bell and I'm coming out swinging.

Game on.

Yeah farout, small signs for sure, lucky you got onto it. Being young and fit is a big plus and that is the best attitude too, yeah you probably will feel like you've gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson but yeah I'm sure you'll bounce back in no time.

I think anything that gives you mental strength is good, having family and friends behind you for support sure helps a lot too.

Anyway hope the chemo does'nt knock you around too much.

Thanks Chris, I hope your mum gets better. I've been reading up on the chemo and it does worry me a lot - i'm not suprised she chose not to continue with it. It almost feels like the doctors think if it can't be prescribed it's not a treatment option and don't want to give any thought to alternative options. It's disappointing.

I hope all your news is good news from now on, Kris.

It's a devastating diagnosis for anyone to get, but cancer survival rates are going up and up. Ian Gawler's book "You can conquer cancer" was and still is for me a great resource of inspiration, diet info and common sense when I was diagnosed 10 years ago. Stay positive.

Kris,
I'm feeling for you man. Cancer is a disease that DOESN'T discriminate. I have family and friends that have been touched by the big C (my sister had a mastectomy for breast Ca 2 yrs ago, Heath from this forum, and others) - so it comes close to home for me too. Not only this, I see patients who have or are diagnosed with Ca every day of my working week. Its sad, difficult and stressful for everyone involved. But it can be beaten.
As Rick mentioned some time ago, I work in healthcare. Actually, I am top of the nursing field in vascular access in this country.
Chemotherapy is quite cancer specific - as there are over 1000 different types of cancer!
Can you please PM me as I have a few suggestions for you that will assist you through this period.
Seriously, PM me. I will PM you my mobile and will hope that you will at least spend 5 min (hopefully more) to listen to what I have to say.

Nah Tim I did'nt have cancer thankfully, I had an Arterio Venous Malformation in my brain, just as scary though it was fixed with surgery and I had no ongoing treatment except physio.
