hey... does anyone here have a list of trimax transformers with specs etc? i have a few that need identifying.

also, i have a rather interesting bunch of tubes i'm thinking of selling... some premium E88CC's (6922), also an ECC186 and some other rare stuff. i have to get them tested but if anyone is interested, thought i'd give you guys a heads up before they go on the audiofool market for silly money ;-)

got some EF86's but they're easily obtainable. anyway i'll probably keep these ones for now.

EDIT sorry chris you said EL86, i misread.... got none of those.

hi jim... i think there are 10 of the 6922/E88CC (8 x *PQ* and 2 x *SQ*), Philips Miniwatt branded, made in holland, gold pins. They look like 1950's to me.

BUT they are used, not NOS, so i won't know what they're worth until they've been tested. But feel free to PM me an offer.

hey myles, thought you would be along soon ;-)

i have 11 of the small cylindrical input trans with the red Trimax label, which i can't find any info for. actually they have a little 'A1' on them, but i don't think this is a model number?

The big LM Ericsson-Trimax output trans are - TA2032, TA587, TA673 and TA1240. There is one more that I can't see the front of.

So Myles, you know the thing these are out of... i was going to sell it but I think the valves are worth more than i realised. If they are then I'll part it out, if not then I'll keep it all together and sell it as an awesome rainy day project for someone.

yep, and i'm kicking myself that i never found out the name of the guy who built it (the guy I bought it off said he knew, but he couldn't remember!)

anyway, since we are here... for those that are interested, it is essentially a 10 channel valve mixer custom built for the Victorian Supreme Court in the 1970's. the configuration is a bit odd, as it was designed to be able to buss signals out to various places like telephone links, probably a mono recorder, PA etc... hence the 5 slightly different output transformers.

The workmanship is amazing. the two lift-out front panels are machined from a single piece of aluminium. the switches and other components are absolutely top shelf.

Oh, and it still has the names of the sitting supreme court judges written on the scribble strip from the last time it was used! if it weren't such a cool audio project, it would be a museum piece - literally.

So, with a power supply, and the appropriate output trannies, you got something kinda special here i reckon.

But if these tubes are worth what i think they are, then sadly i'll really just have to part it out. In a funny way, i'm kinda hoping they're not, because i'd rather sell it intact!

so its a 10 into 1 valve mic/mixer with various other outputs. Anyway to make it stereo? And it currently has no power supply correct? So you'll need a pretty full on ps made as power upwards of 14 or 15 valves the current draw for the heaters will be impressive...
Rainy day project indeed but it would be so cool!

And if you do break it up I think we could organise a few blokes to sort you out for audio domestic violence!

hey this is great, i'm impressed at how strongly people react to the thought of parting something like this out.

i wasn't going to, but after some research and talking to people in the know i thought that it might make more sense to sell the tubes. rick you are right that they are used, and unless they test REALLY well (and i have my doubts - they are at least 40 years old) then they will be worth nothing and i'll forget i ever had this moment of madness!

if you'd seen the things i've collected, you'd know i'm a sentimental bastard who never throws anything out, let alone breaks things up!

Myles... do you want me to bring it over? Yes it would need a bit of work, but think of the end result!

No I don't know how it sounds, i bought it as it is. I'm guessing tubey and transformery.

OK then... here are my demands... PM me private offers, otherwise i'll cut little bits off and post them to you one at a time.
