Sony car disc player - E99 error

My car disc player froze up a few months ago and wouldn't play discs, just kept displaying E99 error. I tried all sorts of stuff to fix it but no luck. Yesterday I had a flat battery and had to pull the battery out to charge it. WHen I reconnected it after charging the cd player worked fine. So if you ever get that error disconnecting the battery (or pulling the fuse) so the power is completely cut may reset it and fix the problem. Posting this because I could find little info on the net when it happened. Now it's fixed just as I'm about to get a new car...haaa

Funny that you mention this Andy - I had a flat battery on sunday morning and unfortuantely my CD player asks for a security code..
Damn if I could remember it though after 3 attempts and getting the 'lockout'!!!!
I wish it was just simpler!!

Oh no, the dreaded "what's my pin number again?" lottery. I've lost that one a few times.

Yup! and when my favourite CD is stuck in there, I cant get it out!!

i had that problem, with one of my fave discs inside also.

Solution?

I pulled the head unit out, cursed Kia with a pox on their made in a hurry manufacturing standards and then proceeded to deconstruct the head unit with a 10lb lump hammer. Ahh the joy at finally getting my cd back far outweighed the fact that my missus was not impressed and i know needed to outlay a few hundred on a new head unit.

The joys of DIY huh.

Yeah Mick I agree, same thing last time my old laptop gave me a blue screen, I hit it like any Aussie would, felt much better afterward seeing all broken bits and pieces of the f'ing thing.

Lump hammers are great tools.

Honda dealer service centres will issue the CD player unlock codes over the phone. Given the servicing costs more than the car, that's the least they can do...
