BeesNeez T-1 How is it.
Anyone (maybe Angus) who has the Tribute mic like to give us a bit of a progress report on it.
Thanks

I'd be happy to supply my Wagner for it. I'd prefer it was done in Sydney though... Nic could do it at his place if he has time. Might need to wait until mid January when I finish treatment.
I have short body with M7 capsule. Not serviced since I bought it but in perfect condition.

I'm sure the BeezNeez will sound great.
I bought the Wagner as a lifetime investment. Shootout or no it will be a bad, bad day before I let it go.

Angus and Nic
I can organize BJB for a test run of the mics if you want.
I am keen to hear these mic's (plus we have 2 Wagner's - with m7 capsules for a shootout)
Keep us informed so we can get it all organized.
Also may be able to throw in a AA CM47 (valve) mic into the comparison.

Its great having a matched pair of Wagners - we have been using them for 6 years - Stereo Oheads or rooms on drums - Amazing -
On Vocals - I have not heard a better more versatile mic

Hopefully, if this happens early in the new year, My pair of Lucas CS-1's should be here. Been waiting forever. If I kept my original #29 I'd have it by now however I upped the order to get a later pair of matched ones. #s 90 & 91. Oliver is currently shipping around #50 but recons the rest will be delivered over the coming few months.
I'll bring along the Elux251 regardless.
Look forward to meeting you guys.
Cheers

Now that would be interesting throwing the CS1's into the mix although it's not a U47 type mic whereas the Wagner and Beesneezz are.

For sure. It'll be more closely related to the Elux251. It's the same capsule. The Lucas CS-4 has the new Thiersch M7 capsule for that U47 sound. I've also ordered the same numbers 90 & 91 in a matched pair. But it's ages away.

Angus, ask Gunter about Gary Beer's (INXS) "vintage" U47. You'll spend a fortune refurbishing it on top of the purchase price, which will be exorbitant.
Given that Gunter's mics are mostly NOS parts you'd be better off getting one of his.

Maybe he found more NOS parts
when we bought our pair he said there was only enough parts for 30 to be made

Yeah, when I bought mine he told me he had been able to stretch it to 90 units. Obviously some other options presented themselves. I'm not that bothered either way. The mic is velvet.

No doubt. I wish he'd keep making them.

Nic, you have contacts with BJB don't you - that could be a nice 'recognised' and 'neutral' zone.
2 nice Neve Mic Pre's.
My only stipulation is that you record the takes on the mics together.
ie. Put the grills end for end and record passes together with the one vocal take going to both mics at the same time,
With the Mic Pre's level matched with no compression, straight into Monkey Tools (or whatever DAE)
Just so it's fair.
You could even be really anal and swap the mics positions half way thru the tests.
Obviously vocals would need to be tested, but Acc Gtr, Piano, whatever you felt to try would be interesting.
Let's really see if all the fuss I make over the Beesneez is warranted - hee hee.
I love sticking my neck out......just sometimes it gets cut off - LOL.
BTW - the T1 I have has a K47 capsule not the M7 so there will be differences there straight away - will be very interesting.
If you don't mind I would like to wait until I get my Phelicity before we do this as the T1 is my only LDC at present.
I will chase Ben up and once it arrives send the T1 down.
BJB is out, I don't business there anymore. I'll wait for Kris to get better then we'll do something.

Whats your problem nic?
still concerned that an assistant was using your protools rig in our 3rd room one morning .... get over it!
Looks like any protools hire from all our engineers will be going elsewhere (you got so much work through us)
Hope Santa brings you healing for your trauma

Nic, me being someone you can probably call a mate, I reckon if you have a problem with Chris or BJB keep it between yourselves, not here on Rick's forum. If I were Chris I'd have reacted too.
Not being a tosser I'm just sayin it how it is or ummmmm should be, before Rick locks the thread.

No Chris thats not it at all. I don't have a problem with you guys at all
I have sold my Protools rig and a heap of my pres and I don't do hires anymore, but if you want to borrow any of the pres/comps that I still have you are more than welcome.
I'm just using my Logic, Ensemble, iMac rig.
If you want to hire the Pt rig see Burk about it, he knows who has it.
Anyway give me a ring if you wish to borrow my gear, I'm cool.
Merry Christmas

I have to apologize to everyone here especially Chris. I just replied to the post from from Angus on my iPhone without reading all the other posts before my reply and not knowing that Chris had replied as well, offering his studio.
Wow I feel bad and did not mean to be disrespectful to BJB and/or Chris, I was replying that I don't have a working relationship with them anymore. But would offer my home studio as I could not speck for BJB.
Very Sorry guys

Hey Nic
I pride myself on the honesty and goodwill I have built up at BJB for nearly 2 decades of my life.
Anyone who wants to bag my business out - I'll come out swinging. (this is the second time you have done this - the first time I let it ride)
I'm pissed off - I don't bag your business out in public - or in private.
Apology accepted - but please be more careful with your choice of words.
I'm on holidays and trying to relax.
I will still be up for a shootout at BJB if it all pans out (we are fully booked until end of April - but I am sure we can find a window one morning)
