come on myles let mixmasters make a buck sometime this year !
if i have to have another conversation with them about all the stuff that gets sold on this forum at NO sales commission i am going to pop

oh by the way guys if you do list stuff on mixmasters and here as well and sell it here with no commission ,
it makes me look flakey like i am somehow robbing them
so perhaps we could try not double dipping as much ( at least with mixmasters - they are great guys !)

pity that desk is white :)

Talk about over priced!!
I mean this is a killer sounding console but - 2 sends makes it great to mix film - hopeless for music.
$30k would be too much for this - and I am the biggest fan of Q8's

If it's on consignment then it's probably the owner that has specified that price. I sold a desk through MM a while back and they listed it for what I asked.

But $66k... There's a lot of SSL/Neve desks around for that price and lower.

Hi Rick,
understood but I'm not interested in buying, don't have the dosh. I'm just interested who is letting it go. I'm amazed that this stuff pops up! I'd love a smaller format Q8 or clarec or similar and I know they must be around but i never see them...

if anyone here buys this and there's no manual, I think I have one.

isn't it funny how consoles these days are priced on their component parts (ie they're worth more sold off separately which is why the prices go up).

nice though, and I reckon the limited fx sends are workable, particularly with that many groups.

Chris - I don't think you can send on all aux's and cues with seperate control for each - pretty big limitations. But for simple music and mixing (jazz and blues etc) it would be killer (for around $30k)
And yes $66k could get you a SSL or Neve or many other great consoles that have much more use for mixing - or even 2 x Q8 Coranado's or 2xQ8 Pacificas.

yeah, I guess it depends on what you're doing. so there isn't a separate fader for each group send? but you're right, there's no controlling the individual sends to a particular buss. i suppose i get around it by having 40 outputs from my apogees ;-0

my humble AWA has 4 fx sends and 2 cue sends. it is limiting but you learn to work around it.

if anything, that Q8 makes a great tracking console. i love my MM403's...

Must admit, i live in a preety basic and simple world when it comes to mixing etc. Come to think of it,the last dozen or so CD's i've recorded i haven't even set up headphone mixes exept for the drummer once or twice.

thats the last of the big abc ones left
the modules sell all day long for $1500 each x 56 = asking price i guess , plus all the limiters extra stuff etc
so its worth $70,000 in parts if you go that way
if any of you guys owned it would you break it up or try and get a real rate ?

what if i cost you less then a 2nd hand 8 year old barina when you got it ..?

btw this console is nothing to do with me .

i dont think the aux is an a issue as much as the footprint.. its huge

There are very few of these consoles left & that would be one of the largest I've ever seen. It would without doubt be a fantastic tracking desk. Probably overkill for most situations, but still a impressive beast. There are people in the US looking for frames to start rebuilding some Electrodyne & Quad eight desks for tracking. This desk is from the era of Quad Eight's best work (IMHO). I'd expect a massive power supply & a power bill to match. I hope it doesn't get parted out just because of how rare these things are now.

Yeah, great sounding no doubt.
Would love it, but too big and too expensive for me.
