WTB: Keyboard Sampler

hey all... i'm putting together a rig for some gigs/tour and i need a sampler and a 61-note synth/controller... then i looked at the rig and thought, this is getting too big. so to keep the size down i thought i'd get both in one.

having trouble finding one though (just missed out on a K2000 which would've been perfect). of course when i say sampler i also mean something that will play back my samples (like the K2000). so something like an ensoniq ASR-10 (i have a LONG love/hate relationship with ensoniq!) or even an EPS 16+ might do. i'd consider a pad-based, MPC, ASR-X type of thing, but would really like a keyboard.

so, does anyone have something they want to unload? happy to look at trades if you don't need cash.

actually can anyone recommend any other options? i've done my research but i'm sure i've missed some. just need a machine that i can load samples into (presumably as wav files) that i've prepped on the computerer. before anyone says 'why not use a laptop?'.... actually i'm doing that too. i need both options.

Hi Wez, have a EPS16 plus that's been used hardly at all and only in a smoke free home situation; has a case and is in good nick with manual.
It's sitting doing stuff all at the mo. Only drawback is I'm in Alice Springs. See what you think.

i have an e4xt turbo
loaded with lots of 80s sounds for the absolute 80s shows
has the built in hard drive so it loads your show automatically

no keyboard
but still its an option

Hi Wez,

I have a Kurzweil K2000 V2 that's no doing much here (Sydney). It has the orchestral and contemporary roms, plus an iomega zip drive fitted into the floppy drive bay. I have a K2600 I'm using more. The display on the K2 is getting a bit faint but still readable, but can be refitted with a new LCD. Happy to consider an offer for it (probably sell my Yamaha AN1X as well if anyone is interested).

emu made a keyboard version of their eos4 sampler - its the best sounding bit of digital synth / sampler you will ever hear....

bass for days....... these things shaped the sound of electronic dance music in the 90's the presets and samples are unreal... start tweaking and you will be blown away - its very easy (i think to program) and has everything you would find in kontakt or whatever thats called, in a very easy to use and route gui interface....

the samplers (rack) are quite light by the way - the keyboard is quite big 9nicely weighted 76 note i believe)

i think they take 128mb ram 9mine does)

and internal hardrive can be up to 18gb (u can use larger ones it will only format to 18gb)

let us know how you go - most people these days would take a laptop and a controller.....

How about a Korg Triton Wez? They are pretty good at sampling. If you're in Sydney I've got 1 you can borrow to test out, may even sell it cause it's getting no use here.

hey... well when we started this project a while ago, i couldn't decide how to go about it... sampler/keys/laptop? after having played a few gigs i've decided this is the way to go. i wanted to avoid having a computer on stage (we're very much hands-on analogue guys), but i relented and have been using a laptop running ableton live. but i was essentially just triggering loops and fx, and running the odd virtual synth - nothing i couldn't do with a sampler. and the computer setup was a bit laggy, and not quite 100% reliable. anyway, i'm more a hardware guy - i just find software synths/samplers leave me feeling very disconnected from the performance.

and yes, i know those E-Mu samplers are awesome - i was so tempted to buy mark's, crazy price considering their original (and indeed intrinsic) value, but i really wanted a keyboard - Steve's K2000 is exactly what i was after. as for the E4K (emu sampler keyboard), i've never actually seen one but i can imagine it's a great machine - let me know if you ever want to sell it ;-)

Looked at Tritons... bit pricey, bit cover-band for my liking (oops no offence!)

oh, and thanks for all the advice and offers everyone - you guys are great.
