Hi Kevin
I use Marsh insurance for my gear. They work well. I've never done a claim though.
Their insurance covers for when your gear is in transit aswell.

You may already know this, but there are certain insurers who offer discounts for APRA members. Worth looking into if you haven't already and you should find some info in the members benefits area on their site.

if your gear is at home , the cheapest is to go with a named policy , if fact this is WAAAAAAAYYYYY cheaper

I'll check out Marsh insurance, thanks for letting me know about them Ben, Most of my stuff doesn't really move round too much. Well most of the time I'm recording and only take guitars out for a show.
This discount for APRA members is definitely worthwhile chekin out!
any ones you can name?
regards,

Beware of the "conditions": I was insured with an audio insurance specialist. I blew up an expensive monitor due to a power amp fault, and when I claimed, they said the studio equipment wasn't covered for electrical damage! Theft, yes, fire, yep, but everyday working hazards....no.
Then, after ringing the agent to complain, he said it was pretty ridiculous, but advised the monitor is protected for liquid damage! So I said "Ooops, there goes my coffee all over the monitor!", and he gave me the payout.

If the insurer has "creative" ways of dodging their part of the deal, then the customer has "creative" ways to ensure they are covered......and this is a great example......... the Ooops factor! I like it :)

I'm with one of the four letter mobs, my home and contents covers my gear for accidental damage, fire, storm etc, and as I have my cars insured full comp i have a policy incorporated into the main policy that covers me if any of the gear is taken outside of the home for "business purposes". Basically that means of my gear is stolen or damaged at a job or between home and the job I'm covered. You probably are better off going with a company that specializes in the audio industry cover but sometimes they have those little loopholes that may or may not be easy to exploit.
Thats not a hot dog....This is a hot dog!
