Best Soundsystems in Sydney.
Just wondering what you guys have heard in and around town...as sounding, clean, having great bass representation,
not much distortion, etc.
Best sound i've heard ...on a good night with a good sound engineer was at the Civic Underground....insane rig there....serious headache material....crisp tops too..
2nd...Hijack Sound at the Pheonix Bar...more distorted mids/highs..but ridiculous bass.
I dont really know many other places ...but interested to see what you guys have experienced.
not much distortion, etc.

Played at the Bald Faced Stag/The Wall on Sautrday. Sounded great but not massively bottom heavy.

i mean moreso, electronic music, ie. stuff that relies on bass pressure to work.

Have heard some insanely bass heavy rigs over the years, but none were permanent installs (just day hired). Not sure if the LAcoustics dV-Dosc system is still in the state theatre, depending on who's driving it, and what its playing, it is simply the best all around sound system I've ever heard. Not sure how it would go with electronica though.

Amen to that Damien. Glad to see someone else on the bandwagon.
The VHD system has to be heard to be believed. The whole range is great, as soon as my studio fit out is done and dusted the next big spend is on a dual ES. Although spending nearly 60k on a concert tour spec seems a little bit of overkill for me i figure having a system i can split and hire out will definitely be a benefit to the back pocket in the long run.

I spoke to the guys at Smithy's about KV2 stuff several years ago, they told me of a few pubs that had them installed. No idea where they were but maybe call Smithy's and see if they know of any?

its very possible that i have been Damien. And yes it is possible that our paths may cross sooner than later.
As for KV2 i reccomend that anyone who hasnt heard one of these systems in action really should go and have a listen.
thats my plug for the day.
actually scratch that, total thread hijack. Jamil i heard the intro track off your cd at heaths house today mate, sounded great, will have to buy a copy. Plugs for heath also, he did a pretty damn good job on the mix if i don't say so myself. I need to really raise the bar....

I went to see Autechre on Friday at the Forum - Moore Park.
that rig is pretty friggin awesome :-)
crappy acoustics at most spots, but the FOH desk position is fairly insane :-)
again, tops slightly too harsh....but probably becoz of the music genre. The lows are pretty extended in there....and was amazing to hear very dynamic electronic music through that rig.

It's a great joint for a dance party but a crap place to SEE a band... I saw Switchfoot there recently. Sound was amazing, even down in the little "cave" beside the front of stage, where I was expecting to just have one huge standing wave between the mirrors, it was pretty clean and clear. You're right about up near the FOH desk... amazing. Just a shame for all the people on the top floor trying to see the stage... crazy.

yes, my friends expressed their distaste at viewing bands in there as well!
