For what its worth I think the tunes and recording sound great Angus. Have you had much experience with the studio series in particular the James? Im looking at purchasing one soon unfortunately it seems the series have all gone up recently.

Keep checking www.beesneezmicrophones.com.au as Ben posted in Gearslutz that there will be an end of financial year sale in june, so look out for discounted mics.

I noticed the arabella price went up a bit. I got Ben to sell me an arabella but without a NOS tube in it. That puts the price up a bit. I took a new good quality russian tube that was tested good instead of the NOS one. I saved a few hundred. Speak to Ben about it. And, wait till June, then spend up big - just dont tell the wife.

My other half is a singer too. So after the initial shock (which lasts an hour or so), she is ok. I tell her how good it is and how good she will sound. Which she hears later, and agrees.

umm.... it might be the weak US dollar - the aussie dollar is still around 86 cents !
so its a great time to buy US stuff , lousy time to sell it back to them ....

i am not so sure you should be given out his business reasoning online angus
unless you got your facts perzactly correct its not really fair to ben me thinks

Sounds really good Angus, i havnt had the chance to listen through the monitors yet but through the phones and lappy speakers it is very bright and the mixes are well done. good job man. one thing though is that its loud to the point of distraction man,but otherwise i like it and so does the other half.

Angus is correct, I do own a James.
I have had it for just over a year.
I do indeed like it so much that I sold my Rode Classic II to get it. And I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
I tried really hard to like the Rode Classic II. Had it for 4 years but alas it just did not do the jobs I wanted it to do in the different locations I recorded in.
The James decision was a no brainer.
I saw the Arabell GT version going for $899 on a limited special. If I was to toss up between the James and Arabella I might consider getting the Arabella at those sort of prices instead of the James.
Hope that helps. I think he posted on another forum that he was having an end of financial year special soon so get in touch with Ben to see whats going down.
Cheers
