integrate 2010

Postby rick » Tue Aug 17, 2010 3:05 pm

Well its that time of year again
integrate is on next week tues weds thursday
i am on a bunch of panels on thursday
but best check the audio technology website for times and details because i have no idea, when , who why
www.audiotechnology.com.au/index.php/fe ... -schedule/

i am around most of the time at the Audio tech corner and in the onsite Turtlerock "heavy metal room"

Andy Stewart is getting a truck and we are raiding the Turtlerock warehouse ( err i mean new studio site )
to bring the heavyweight contenders to the all time audio king sized crown out for a holiday / dream date with real live people before they go back into hiding waiting for another chance to rock when the new place eventually opens

we are loading in over 1 tonne of real heavy audio stuff ( some of the best stuff ever made ) to to counter weigh all the lightweight crappola out on the main show floor I dunno if we will plug it all in we will see

But as a special treat i am bringing along the reassuringly expensive and heavy Weiss /Maya converter for private auditions or virtual rocketship trips
for those that i deem worthy , or alternatively for those that ask me if they can have a listen at a point in time when its possible :)

bring your CDs along if your curious , i haven't got a lot of time for the auditions but if i know you or i dont know you or if i should know you but i am too confused to remember come on by and say hello and take a seat in the heavy metal room for a look
i dont know if we will ever be dumb enough or strong enough to lift this much audio heavy metal again .
dont miss it

we are trying to figure out a prize for who can guess the weight of certain items , dunno what the prize is or even the actual the weights right now
but i assure you its all heavy !

I assume it's whatever comes first. I dropped a business card in the box at entech like a billion years ago (or 4 years ago, I can't remember which) and I've got them ever since...

do you remember what the box looked like...?

was it made out of australia cedar and did it have a VU meter in it for no reason at all ..?

Andy an I made that box the night before in my woodshed to snare young whippersnappers into giving up their details :)

Unfortunately I will be head down and bum up (no comments please), so no intergrate for me this year. Sounds like fun in the heavy metal room though. \m/

Rick my guess is 1.2 tonne. I don't know what that means or what it relates too but I thought I'd have a crack anyway.

Have fun!

I did last year and it was great - George Massenburg was awesome - nice guy, very down to earth (had a moment of chat with him after symposium)
I hope I can make this years one - would be nice to catch up with TR folk again..

oh look i dont think integrate even rates on the same radar screen as namm or frankfurt !

but i reckon you have to go with whats here and the small population base etc

i dont know or understand what 50 % of the the things on the show floor i am seeing are

but thats ok because i have brought stuff along that 99.8% of the folks walking around will have never ever seen in the flesh
little lone the few diehards that actually know what all that heavy metal does ... errr did ..?

.. you have to compete on what ever level you can i guess :)

Highlight of today was meeting Wes Dooley of AEA, someone who has experience with some of the unfortunately now passed jazz musicians and mine of ribbon mic info. Look forward to tomorrow, mastering panel, tech panel and AT panel.

I've already obtained photos of you receiving it and distributed them around the world with the caption "Rick's sold all his old ancient junk mics and moved into the 21st century".
