Excellent news Woody, I'm sure you'll have a swell time. You must try some Fishermans Wharf Sour Dough bread. It'll be worth the trip just for that. cheers jb

Yeah i'll 2nd that. But head right along waterfront away from tourist trap area and head to where local food market is and try clam chowder in sour dough bowl along with other seafood delights. Enjoy.

Alcatraz! Book early though. Like, possibly today. Interesting place though!

If you have some time on your hands and a car at your disposal, Yosemite National Park
is about 2 hours drive to the west and absolutely breathtaking!

Did a week there for an OB a few years ago,
For Seafood , the best is Scomas on pier 47
http://www.scomas.com/?page=contacts
no reservations, 1st come , 1st Served.
The Chowder in Sourdough is fabulous
Book online for Alcatraz ---Now
Interestingly The sound of Darth Vader's shuttle door opening is reportedly a recording of a whole block of Alcatraz cell doors slamming shut. George Lucas includes this effect somewhere in each Star Wars movie. We interviewed the Head Ranger at Alcatraz and I made a recording of the cell doors slamming-- fabulous reverberation. PM me if anyone wants a copy(We climbed the lighthouse too and stood on top-- ah the joys of radio abroad)
The Presidio http://www.nps.gov/prsf/ , the Maritime Museum, go on USS Pampanito the submarine used in "Down Periscope" WW2 veteranhttp://www.maritime.org/tour/index.php, Haight-Ashbury http://www.haightashburytour.com/ see the origins of Flower Power--Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell and countless others used to hang out there.
So much to see
Enjoy it :)
and of course , ride a cable car

And Anchorsteam beer.

(Mind you, it's been 15 years since I was there, so my memory might have inflated the quality of that drop. OTOH, when I think about Miller or Bud...!)

Hey Angus - sounds like you are working for Beesneez after all, if only for a short period. You know... working your charm in the Beesneez tent at AES for plane ticket/expenses/experience. hehe

On a less negative comment :) ....you have been a very good, in fact, steadfast advocate/ambassador for their mics.

It's fantastic to see that out of a small town in northern NSW there is a world class mic manufacturer. Run by a nice guy to boot.

I'm still yet to hear any of Ben's mics. Maybe someday.

Amoeba Records is great. Pick up a shopping basket like at the supermarket and fill it! I easily spent way too much money there...
Also seconded is Alcatraz. Book early and get one of the late tours that go after dark!
Please, find and befriend the guy that owns this place: http://goldengaterecording.com/ I'm totally crushing on their gear list right now.

you must ride that crazy cable car and make sure you hang out the side, yelling like a muthafucker as you zoom down hill through intersections.

I found it to be the only cure for the brain deadening madness of the AES
