i dont think i am that clever over this issue

i reckon not having your phone number on your website so your customers cannot "waste you time "
is a sure sign of a business that has issues to solve though .

at my place we take every phone call, or return every message answer every email and know that the little guys turn into big guys sometimes
it can be a right pain at times but it just comes with the territory, you put yourself out in the world as a marketing thing as someone you can trust
you have to not be surprised when they call you up on that i reckon

These are likley to be ok mics....( understatement) ......a bit above the average with attention to detail in every aspect of their design and construction. Each mic is hand made and tuned. I'm no mic manufacturer but i assume this is the mic equivalent of the hand built acoustic guitar where the top is tuned individually as no two bits of spruce are identical, and being a guitar builder having worked with Maton in the 70's, i know this makes a difference when you're after a guitar with stellar qualities. At the price they are selling, they are comparable or cheaper than others that don't promise as much. There is a unique valve being used in these mics, the LMG-95-ES, only 7000 are available so the limit of 300 mics has been chosen to make them last more than a lifetime for those who buy the mics...No doubt there is marketing hyperbole as with any product but overall it's not a bad deal, and if it lives up to it's rep then it's going be a good mic to have on hand.

I just had the capsule in my rode classic II changed under warranty after 9years - regardless of peoples opinions of their mics I am impressed by their service/support. Classics are covered for 10years. I would classify the classic as on OK mic, the lucas I suspect whould be a substantial inprovement. I might even consider a swap of the rode for your lucas, and throw in a 70s maton as well

Haven't got a 70's Maton......silly me. Got a 1955 one thanks anyway but i think I'll hang on to it and the mic, when it eventually gets here.
The 70's Matons that were hand tuned where the Messiah and the Southern Star and the odd custom job if you're very lucky to find one. A batch would consist of 9 guitars and we would build one batch of the Messiah or Southern Star in a week, but more time was taken in the preceding weeks getting things ready like fret board selection, bracing and tuning the tops, etc. We built two batches of the CW 80's per week. As it always is with so many variables, some guitars in a batch of the CW80's etc were head and shoulders above the average of the pack and some were below average, so it pays to play many of the same make and model these days and sooner or later you will find a standout guitar. I have always done this with acoustics. Of course there was less variation with the Messiah etc but it still paid to play many before buying as you will eventually get the standout one. I picked a 2nd hand 74 Guild Jumbo this way and i haven't heard better example yet. I often play the newer ones to hear how they compare...........they don't. And while we're at it.........what's all the fuss about Cole Clark acoustics? I haven't played one i like yet!

A good friend of mine makes Johker Guitars. Hand made acoustics and Carved archtops. The sound Board, Back board and braces are all tuned to within the a440 scale. He's very skilled. To carve out and build an archtop takes roughly 300 hours.

I have an Archtop and a standard acoustic coming. Lucky I'm patient.

The pre needs 6 of these tubes so the wait time is 4 years from order payment date...................lol.......but look at the bright side; at least "precious" will be well and truly burnt in by then.....

I've got some nice Pre's to try. A pair of BA1073's, a pair of API 7600's, a pair of Neve 51's(Thanks Rick), a Mercury m72's and a couple other Neve Clones. When I have a free day or two I'll run them through their paces. Apparently changing patterns make significant differences to each sound. Placement is also not like the usual suspects.
They'll take a bit to find the zone. Like any new Mic really, only different.....

I'll try to be as unbiased as possible although I'm sure they'll be the greatest Mics ever built.

Are we still going to do the shootout. We would need a good room though. My rooms crap. Any volunteers??

gee, I think this is my first contribution to this rambling thread; but now we have the mic on the way and the preamp in the marketing pipeline it seems there has been no mention of the mic cable! Surely this is remiss and I reckon we can stretch the thread out for at least another 5 pages if we discuss the cable.

The best way to be unbiased is to expect nothing more than a tool that will do it's job. Fortunately you've been separated from your money for long enough to diminish your financial attachment to the mic. It's a good thing.
