Hi Turtlerockers
I have been thinking about getting some mod's done on some gear.. I have heard there is a Rode NT1 mod and I am also looking at getting a bunch of these cheap Chinese ribbon "Stellar" mic's modded... anyone have a suggestion for a good tech in Sydney that has done these mods before?
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Microphone mod's in Sydney?
Hi Adam,
I'm not aware of anyone in Sydney doing quite the same mods to the NT1/NT1a as are being done by Michael Joly in the US (primarily the capsule swap-over, the electronics are already pretty good). At the moment I believe Michael Joly is offering free return shipping to overseas clients for his mods, so with the Aus$ near parity with the US$ sending them to the States for the mod is pretty attractive at the moment. I had a NT1a and NT2a modded - takes about 4-6 weeks turnaround.

I had him mod an Apex 205 ribbon which has turned out to be really good - very efficient and keeps you up to date at all times

Hud, very happy with the mods, the mics now get a lot of use. Gets rid of the shrill top end of the mics, much nicer voicing in the low mids. Joly opens the wire mesh baskets right up as well, strips a lot of that out. If you're in Sydney and want to check them out, give me a shout.

AB, let me know if you go ahead - I've been looking at this mod as well, and we might get together and save on some shipping if we combine our orders

The Stellar's are currently on sale on eBay.. until tomorrow. I am thinking of grabbing a RM-7.. and if the mod is done in the US I was thinking of asking the eBay seller to ship to where the mods are done.
I am sending them a message through eBay now, will let you guys know.
