Re: turning point on my life happiness graph
Number fifteen for me, my friend. I love the GTV, but I wish I could have kept my Giuia Super: what a car!
Off to Melbourne next week to cast a loving eye over a 1962 Giuia Spider....naughty.

Re: turning point on my life happiness graph
Rick, re Alfa Spider
Alfa Spider: everyone will think you are cool; "man you have a Spider" or "Alfa convertibles are the best looking machines on the planet". No one says this about Audi or Lexus or Benz or BMW. So live with their eccentricities and your Life Happiness Chart parameters will be sky high.
There is just enough room in the back for small children and the new model is based on the 159 chassis and drivetrain.
Belissimo

P.S. That flying car is as ugly as sin.

Oh great just what I need a car that will make people think I am cool
how cool will it be to say
"yeah well actually this is my wifes car she bought it for her self as Christmas present
I actually sold my cool car so I could afford to by my kids there Christmas present
Ben ten soccer balls are expensive this year"
seriously though she is talking about a spider
I don't know anything about them except they look good

"I don't know anything about them except they look good", that's almost enough. But as well as that they handle like a dream and stop (and go) really well. Plus, one again, the "cool factor"

Damn that's nearly the same colour as my 97 Futura. Only got $800 for mine though. I like my 2006 XR6, though the interior feels like it was made in china. Hmmm really want an XR8 now.

Re: turning point on my life happiness graph
One of the things I like about the Alfa club : the bumper bars are stainless steel, not chrome. My rear bumper is in 3 sections, and you can buy just one second-hand section if you biff it. But the best part is: the new second-hand bit has apparently been hand-polished for hours by some little old guy in his back room: my mechanic has a team of them somewhere (the Stainless Sweatshop) dedicating the waning hours of their lives to buffing my bumpers.
Somewhere else there's a team of re-honers (brake master cylinders), wooden steering wheel polishers and light lens shapers.
The only boo-boo I've heard of is someone who began to manufacture new inlet manifold gaskets, and unfortunate customers found they were resistant to everything except petrol.

Congrats on the sale (though winner got a bargain), sorry for your loss (the car not the money put into it), and I hope you do another restoration some day (and suspect you probably will).

Very nice Nymo.
Myles that ol thing is a death trap! Though they go ok in straight line, especially the 900. My Mum used to have the 900, now she has 1 of the very last Buell S3 Thunderbolts left alive (with racing kit, bought from new), took that for a ride not long ago, always amazes me hitting 95kmh in 1st gear, heh.

Nymo, it may be a classic, but it still has the ability to suck in money like a black hole. Last week, went to get new tyres, found the rear spoked rims were corroding internally and will have to be replaced . JAguar Bolt pattern Tru-Spokes are not an off the shelf item unfortunatey, but they look the part
