Tossing up between a be!@#$%^& & an SSL ... For Real

Postby smash » Fri Nov 12, 2010 4:29 pm

Looking for something... in the middle of this:

http://www.soundseasy.com.au/v3/product ... uctID=1097

and this:

http://bavasmusic.com.au/store/behringe ... -3466.html

Requirements are as follows:

8 Clean Mic Pre's - the are being fed through 100m of multicore, and will be being used on a TV show.

Needs to have Main Stereo out, for our internal house feed, and going to Ch 1 & 2 of a Master Recorder
Needs to have Minimum 2 Aux sends - for feeding ISO's to Ch 3 & 4 of a Master Recorder
Needs to have an Alternate Stereo Bus, the same mix are the Main Stereo Out, but with the ability to mute certain channels*

* The alternate Stereo Bus will be feeding a live web broadcast, and due to copyright we can't always pass certain Audio through to Web.

Ideally, I'm looking for something in between the be!@#$%^& and the SSL,
Better Quality than the be!@#$%^&,
Less unnecessary crap to ruin the Signal than the be!@#$%^&
Cheaper than the SSL,

My other concern is that although the SSL will do what I need it to today, it's very possible that we'll out grow it very quickly.

So, essentially, I'm looking for something in the middle.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,

Smash.

The X-Desk has no mic pre's as far as I'm aware. It's a line mixer.

You would be best served picking up a used Yamaha O2R96 for the routing and recallability.

One of the Mackie Onyx might be an option.

The next level up would probably be a small Midas or Allen & Heath desk.

Results:

The Yamaha 02R96 would have been ideal - but out of my budget... theoretically.

As it turns out, we had one we actually had one in our company that wasn't really being used to it's full potential...
So...I swapped it for a Mackie 1402 VLZ thingy.

They get the Mackie, and I get the O2R..

Management approved it, and if anyone else says anything, I'll just tell them it's an "upgrade to an analogue desk" posting.php?mode=reply&f=1&t=4484&sid=5ffe9ee4acafa1c8937082f51b6b3111#
