Vectorscope?

Postby aside » Mon Nov 22, 2010 6:51 pm

hey guys - can anyone recommend a desktop vectorscope (like the ones in SSL's) besides RTW or DK? A friend reckons there may be an aussie company making some? need a small, pro hardware unit, the software ones don't do it for me ;)

you want a NTP 277-500 gonioscope it has a limiter built in to make the picture ten times more useful then any other type
dont mess around wondering or learning about ANY others I have tried everything
this is what you want

i have a bunch in various states of repair but more importantly i have a box full the last of the telefunken NOS green screen picture tubes on the planet to run them
( well them last ones i could find after looking for ten years ! )

see if you can buy a ntp 277-500 on german ebay for about $300 ( it might take a few weeks of looking but they are there )
and if your lucky you wont need a tube for a while
when your unlucky you could buy a new tube off me for $450-500 and then it will run for another 20 years

ermm dont want to sound like a party pooper but
this offer of nos tubes is only good to the guys that i know personally and are not in competition with my business.

who would give the competition the last NOS engines for one of the best audio devices ever..?
err well i have done dumber things but i am getting smarter year by year

interesting to note that the atlantis calrec (UA-8000) has the same scope (i'm 99% sure anyway). and last time i looked, the screen was getting a bit dim.... so dave if you're listening, better talk to rick about putting one away for you ;-)

anyway, my point being that it illustrates the quality of the calrec... everything in that beast is top shelf.

back to the topic... i used to use a stock standard CRO (X-Y mode for vectorscope purposes) - depending on your application, would that be an option?

Appreciate the responses guys, but I actually need to find 2 new / currently manufactured units - it's for a government department, and they're not keen on 'old and funky'.

You can still buy the tektronics analog one
it's 7,500
I have never seen a modern Australian one but I do have 20 year old ones
that where modified scopes for the abc done locally
they were ok

you are out of luck with this Anton
there is no new device excpt the digital ones flat screen ones
and they don't refresh fast enough to be a great idea
and they also cost a fortune

There are heaps of software ones
they don't work fast enough on video refreshes
to be truely useful
they sure are pretty though

i've managed to configure the stock one in sequoia to be somewhat useful (and to look nice and green and), but no - software is never really fast enough... but again, does your application require extreme detail? are you just looking for phase etc or do you need to see distortion from a hundred paces (what was it you used to say rick... something about seeing the mothership in the asteroid belt?)

err .. some of the things i have said over time even baffle me ...
but its the escape pod getting sucked through the astroid belt into the black hole is what you to watch out for of these scopes
and all those sharp asteroids rays as well
