Needed: Good tec for a TX81Z?

Postby Adam » Mon Dec 27, 2010 12:11 pm

I live in Far North QLD and i am having some greif with a YAMAHA TX81Z that i cant do without. if anyone knows anyone interested in repairing YAMAHA black boxes ide love to know....when i turn it off the memory scrambles and patch names are displayed with random symbols (sy$*boL$) and patches dont sound the way they should....could just be the battery for the eprom but im not game to open her up and most tecs in FNQ say they wouldnt waist their time.

yeah - it sounds like scrambled memory from a dead battery - do you have the patches you use backed up?

you don't need a music gear tech here, any TV repairman should be able to solder in a new battery for you. then you should just need to load your patches back in.

I'd be starting with the battery.

OK .
SUXCESS$SSS$#! (nerdy TX81Z dead battery Joke), I had no idea it was so easy, bought a battery from a news agent, a simple solder, reinstalled patches from back up, then waited 24 hrs to see if it works and it was that easy. I feel a little empowered.

Thank you all kindly.

Relieved
