Hey Guys,
Having some fun with Sync.
I have 4 x Mac Pro's with AJA Video cards outputting AES audio - All Synced to our house Black Burst video - No word clock in/out
1 x Digibeta Recorder outputting AES audio - Synced to house Black Burst video - No word clock in/out
They are all feeding a Yamaha 02R96 V2, the Digibeta in the the 2Track Digital 1 input (AES) and the Mac Pro's feeding an AES expansion card.
I had assumed that all the audio would be in sync, as everything is frame locked to BB, but even if I sync the 02R96 to the 2 Track Digital 1 input, it is still reporting a Sync error on the AES card. If I sync to "Internal" I get a frame rate error on both the 2 Track Digital 1 input, and the AES card input.
I'm concerned that even if I buy something like this:
http://www.rosendahl-studiotechnik.de/nanosyncs.html
I will run into difficulty because as far as I can tell, the Mac's should all be in sync with each other now, as they are locked to the same video source, but they are not.
Any thoughts anyone?

Re: Really Geeky Sync Issues
What frame rate is your house clock set to?
The O2R will only be able to cope with 25fps. It's a pre-HD device.
It should be set to look for 48khz/25fps.
Your edit suites will run fine with PAL reference even if you're doing HD.

Re: Really Geeky Sync Issues
House Sync is 25 fps BB (not Tri Sync)
Everything is running 48k.

Re: Really Geeky Sync Issues
Tri Level Sync is not necessary.
Are all your suites and machines receiving the same sync?
If they are then it has to be an internal setting on the O2R. Is it set to receive external reference? Are your suites and machines? If not they will generate their own, conflicting sync.
