Hi all,
decided to make the jump to PT9. Have installed the software but having a world of trouble getting the license transferred onto my new ilok (and getting my old plugin authorisations transferred over).
Basic problem appears to be that the ilok drivers don't seem to work with chrome or firefox.
Has anyone else experienced issues getting their ilok to work with osx 10.6?
Cheers

Re: iLok problems
1 clean reinstall and several hours later and it turns out that the iLok client software doesn't work with the latest version of firefox (apparently supported), or google chrome (theoretically supported) but is happy on new safari... go figure.

Re: iLok problems
to top it off to get safari installed I had to update to the latest os, which of course is not currently supported by PT9.
Had a mad panic when, after finally getting the ilok authorised, PT wouldn't recognise any of my interfaces via core-audio drivers. Nearly did a clean re-install all over again but fortunately put the error message into google and lo-and-behold the issue was with OSX pref files.
Almost everything is working properly now but not a smooth update at all for me.

What a painful process.
Glad you're operational now. You may have saved me (and probably some others) a bit of head scratching.

Re: iLok problems
I had exactly the same issue as Dave only yesterday regarding the iLok. Using Firefox4, iLok.com said I needed the latest drivers, but I'd only built this machine so I knew they were current and I had used iLok.com before on this machine... reinstalled them anyway, iLok.com still didn't work.
I did then try Safari and voila it worked, so realised it was a Firefox 4 issue. No biggie, transferred my new license over, done. Relaxed.
But something there messed with my AudioMidi preferences, and meant that OSX could see my 003 fine, but PT9 couldn't. Nice. Actually I have had this once before after upgrading to PT9, assumed it was just a random thing that happened. This time, I hadn't installed anything other than the iLok driver, but couldn't see how it was caused by that. I made a real mess though.. I re-ran the 003 Mac drivers (since PT9 installer doesn't have it inbuilt now, nice), plus the DioMidisomething driver that they also messed with the PT9.0.1 installer. Ran PT9, and it wouldn't even start now - OSX just said "this version of your software may not be compatible with this version of OSX (10.6.7), check with your vendor". At this stage, I was pretty happy. Started downloading 9.0.2 which timed out after an hour or so at ~40%, and wouldn't reconnect. Best day ever.
After much swearage, did the same googlefest, and finally fell over the delete the pref files idea to get them to rebuild.. and all appears to be back to norm. But now I am very suspicious this AudioMidi pref issue is something related to the iLok driver on OSX.. Thinking back, the 'random' time it happened before was just after I got my new machine, and I had just bought a new plugin to celebrate.
Did you re-install both of those iLok clients at some point in your panic Dave, or just one? I think I did both, maybe one of them should have a warning on it for 10.6.x

Re: iLok problems
Hey Dan,
I went through the ilok suggested solutions first (reinstalling all the ilok drivers) – it's possible this generated the problem with the audio/midi driver I guess but I have a feeling it has something to do with the way PT9 talks to core-audio as the prefs manage aggregate devices under OSX.

Re: iLok problems
Further caveat - tools itself seems to be running fine under 10.6.6 BUT bouncing to disk it's having major issues with some plugins and bouncing to disk (reckons HW buffer issues but I think something else is going on).

Re: iLok problems
Biggest issue I found on the PT9/10.6 combo was plugin compatibility, and it was Avid's response on a number of support tickets I logged. I never had this issue on PT8LE running 10.6, but caused lots of little problems initially for me on PT9. I'd definitely recommend checking for latest downloads of all the plugs.. its annoying but this combo seems very sensitive to it. My case might have been worse than it should be since I hadn't thought to update any plugins since 7.4.
Also, not on bounce-to-disk, but was getting heaps of annoying -6086 errors (HW Buffer size) when buffers were set to max, even on really small sessions. Found some further OSX recommendations not to allocate all your CPUs to PT9, so once I left 4 cores to OSX and other processing (plugins/VIs that host out of PT9), I haven't seen the 6086 since (touch wood). Also turned off some other stuff (bluetooth networking, airport if you're not using it, turn Spotlight indexing off on your audio partition) based on Avid's recommendations. I'll try and find that link Avid posted of all OSX tuning tips in case it might be useful.

This is the one I was thinking of.. on re-reading it does say its for LE on OSX, but I did find going through this list got rid of a lot of errors/frustration working on my new machine. Hope it helps.
