Tannoy SGM 10B crossover caps

Postby JulienG » Thu Apr 21, 2011 9:56 pm

I've just got my hands on a pair of Tannoy Super Gold Monitors, but unfortuantly the crossovers are rather worse for wear after their trip through the international postal systems.

On one just the switch panel popped out (that I can see), that one does sound a bit bright so I may need to pull it out for a look see (or buy an endoscope or similar).

The other one, however had the crossover board completely detached from the cabinet and two of the capacitors on the "Time Delay PSB Assy" board have broken their legs, all four inductors did as well, but managed to stay connected. While I can patch this for now I'd like to make a proper repair, but the only markings on the caps are "1.5J100" which I'm not sure how to interpret, anyone have any idues?

I do eventually plan to install these in the Manley ML10 cabinets, so a failure wouldn't be a total loss, but a shame none the less.

Some judicious chopping away at the capacitors gave me enough leg to get them back in circuit, and with a driver connected it clearly works, now I just need to hot glue the s--t out of it and get it back together.
