Recently had to go this way at my workplace. We didn't get an 8-core. It was more cost-effective buying that chassis than trading to PCIe cards.

Also upgraded an older Digidesign 7slot 64-bit chassis. That was a pain. Magma make it really hard to determine exactly which model you have. This one didn't even have a sticker identifying its model on the back (they're supposed to apparently--this never had one). I spent 2 weeks of emails and took photos of the boards inside before Magma finally told me that it was not Intel-compatible. The board set cost about $1600 (but would be less now).

The board swap was pretty easy (just a screwdriver needed) and it was really gratifying that once I put it back together it worked straight away.
