Hair Club?

Postby mfdu » Fri Sep 08, 2006 3:36 pm

ha ha ha - i found this :
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.0 ... .html?pg=5

The Abrahamses run the Annals of Improbable Research, a satirical science journal that oversees the annual Ig Nobel Prizes and, most recently, the Luxuriant Flowing Hair Club for Scientists.

I propose a "Luxuriant Flowing Hair Club for Engineers".

i'll kick it off. yes - i grew up in the country in the 80's, where the mullet was king, and acid wash jeans ruled.

We're always up for images, the forum does accept them (i just edited your post and made your image link work), just remember to de-select 'disable bbcode in this post' option beneath the text box when you post.

hi mark - thanks for the tip. i'll start posting a couple of images now, i reckon. tee hee.

hi damien. the TAC is beaudiful. haven't done any real tracking with her yet, but once i went through and fixed all cabling to suit pin 3 hot it's all good. (have been checking the whole place for phase-swap issues arrising from pin 2 hot / pin 3 hot mismatches)
got a few folks coming through the next week to give her a proper trial.
so far? running the drumkit in (three mics - snare, kik and ribbon o'h) via the TAC and straight into the 002r, i can say she has the right kind of character and she definately thickens the sound (boosts RMS) which probably means some levels of distortion . . . good, or bad? yet to say.
headroom ain't brilliant, but better than the old studiomaster.
i'll posts some samples once i've put her to proper use.
