Just thought I would post here as it is time to pass this baton on to a fellow community-minded engineer as I am moving out of Sydney in the next couple of months.
For the past few years I have been giving some time freely to the recording every couple of months of short radio dramas for "The Radio Players" at local community station Radio Northern Beaches in Belrose, Sydney. Having run for over 25 years, apparently it is now the longest running radio drama series in Australia... I took over from the previous volunteer engineer who retired a few years back.
Every 8 weeks or so, I go along to the station for a couple of hours (usually with my own 4-channel interface, laptop and 4 mics) and record a 30 min play for the mostly elderly corps of writers and actors (mix of amateur and seasoned professionals). There's no pay involved, just the pleasure of helping contribute to the broadcast arts in the local community.
If there's anyone local on the forum that might be interested in doing this pro bono recording for "The Radio Players", please PM me for details. It would be ideal for a young engineer looking to build a radio reel, hone skills, or for a retired engineer with a bit of spare time on their hands now and again.
