Relocating to Wagga Wagga NSW

Hey anyone here from Wagga Wagga NSW.

So I have done my last recording in my home town of Geelong in Victoria.

Looking forward to a new start albeit in a rather remote area. More than happy to mix stuff bands have tracked themselves though.

I think there are actually a few (well at least one ) forum members from wagga

its a big uni town so there might be a band scene - i wouldn't know


lets see if if the local waggaterians are still reading from time to time

There's a healthy metal scene, hard working young bands with great recordings under their belts. Dunno about other styles...

There's a guy called Vic McEwan building a studio and artist residency just outside of Wagga at Narrandera. Looks interesting. It's called The CAD Factory rural residency.

Is there a music element to this? Just did a google seems interesting seems more an art gallery from info I can find.

Rick - Didn't you pick up a few gem's from out this way a few yeas back.

From what I gather yes there a big Metal scene here and some decent talent from what I gather. Been working with a very good act from Albury over the years who have given me great support in getting me started up here. Quite overwhelmed with the local support so far.

The Wagga council is definitely making an effort to promote art lately.

In the past it's been all about sport so it's good to see. But there's all sorts of interesting things here. We have a Pen museum just down the road from us I've been meaning to check out.

My wife is actually from Wagga so I here all the goss.

Yes, we are running an artists residency here which sees artists from different genres invited to spend three weeks at a time making work. There is one sound artist a year. This year it is Bruce Odland from NYC. He is currently designing a Sound Design Garden with Laurie Anderson in Sweden.

And we have just received funding to put on a series of four shows in remote spaces (abandoned service station, old cement silo, inside a remote scrapyard and on the edge of a field) these will be webcast also.

THe Cad Factory has a bunch of music related programs.

And as for the council in Wagga making a push to promote arts lately. Yes indeed, In fact I have been employed by them to do that over the last year and a bit. We have just developed a plan to commission 1 million dollars in public art over the next year and well, heaps of other exciting things coming up that I wont go on about here. But it has been exciting enough to make us stay here !!

In the year and a half we have been here (moved here from a warehouse in marrickville) I have never been to that pen museum but I laugh every time I see it (and can't help with the League of Gentlemen Quotes).

Happy to meet up any time, I travel in to Wagga nearly every day.

There is a free bus form Wagga and it is a free event. So if you manage to make it out I can show you how our studio build is progressing.
