Moving house is such a drag but as compensation I have done away with the home studio and moved into a facility that has all i would hope for in a building. ( I also now live next to the bay and the ocean. A good home for my boats.)
I have refered to it from time to time in my ramblings as the shed.......well it's a studio built in a shed! Graham Thirkle did the design, control room and recording room on seperate concrete slabs, an air gap between each room, 4 pains of glass in the controll room window which is sloping so it doesn't reflect back to the listening position etc etc. It could do with some cosmetic work but its fully operational and i am in the process of getting my gear out of storage and into the studio. It's a great room for live band tracking and mixing. There is a stack of gear already there, mics, a 48 ch Harrison MR3, Ampex 16 trk 2 inch in restoration, a fully working MCI 24 trk, a 16 and 24 trk Optro recorder,....i'm like a kid in a lolly shop......but the best thing i think is the accurate monitoring environment.
Here are a few pics taked during an all night mixing session on tues so i could met a deadline.

Re: The New Place
Chris .... you are a sound engineer......a producer.... and a sailor of the high seas... but you are not a photographer.
Can we have some shots that aren't so close up?
I find myself down at Flinders each year for family commitments and know Blairgowrie well. It's a great spot for studio and sailing. Great job at working 'it' out.
Now... what about some wide angles?

Ha..... when is Apple going to bring out an iPhone with a wide angle lens?
.........this is the best i can do....good open acoustics but the noise floor is a bit high.
Taken across the road from my new abode in Blairgowrie

The studio is in Pearcedale in a nice bush setting not too far from the Yaringa boat harbour. Was a few years ago since i was in touch with what was going on here but Jimmy Hocking and Michael Spiby were peninsular residents when I lived here six years ago and I know many of the local identities. It's a great place to live.
