The following is an article in the Sydney Morning Herald about Angus & Julia Stone winning the APRA Song of the Year. Whilst I agree generally with his comments, I feel he has followed the well-worn path of the music critic, whose currency is words. I think most people are affected primarily by music, then may notice the lyrics. Look at all the great pop songs with naff lyrics.

Bravely I also agree with this. Largely... I think it's the emotional response to sound/genre/tempo/hook followed by the personal connection to the lyrics (and the meaning of them) is the way people respond to music. I stress...these days.
That song has the direct potential to appeal to a lot of people due to it's soft cuddly nature and there are certain elements of it that appeal to me, however, I've never really thought about the lyric except for the obvious anthemic sing along.
For me, there's nothing particularly amazing about angus and julia but they have a great knack at setting a mood. And that has won them a lot of hearts (with good timing, right place).

I always refer to Plastic Bertrand for help.
Ca plane pour moi.... go figure. Catchy tune that sold worldwide in large numbers... but what the hell is it about?

I never understood why "Ca plane pour moi" was such a big hit whereas "Jet Boy, Jet Girl" (recorded a month earlier using the same backing tracks) wasn't.... perhaps the lyrics of "Jet..." were too controversial for commercial radio at the time....

Angus and Julia were very lucky she forgot to enter. I was waiting for the dog to sing "Dont put it on me girl" in regards to that purple wig. Thanks Mark that was gold.

one of the guys on the forum recorded it
it sounds lush
it was all over the radio last year all over the videos
all over the media
thats about what it takes to win the aria trophey
