stock honda system sucks bad!

i've been contemplating getting a fully sick hoon sub system, but...i cant seem to justify a money pit like that, altho...... subs...mmm...sub....

thats the thing right. you could spend money on the car sound system....or buy another mic, pre, eq, convertors for the studio. haha. Im always trying to consolidate for studio purchases...lol.

i've been seriously considering it because reproducing 20-30Hz in a car is shitloads easier than doing it with loudspeakers

you know what i reckon pimp out your car stereo
its some weird music studio type thing and we all do it ..
we all drive cars for years that are basically crap
so we justify not having a good stereo in it by .. oh well the car is crap so whats the point
or somebody will steal it .. whatever ... its bogus you are robbing yourself just get the stereo

i went into a servo years ago and i jumped in the guys car that was stupidly tricked out
its one of the best listening eperiences i have ever had
his stereo and the sound it made broke all the known laws of physics !
i have been trying to get back there ever since
even my "shit" car systems over the years sound 10 x better then most sound guys cars

just do it - go to jaycar buy 10 million watt amps for 10 bucks , go into strathfield car radio and buy a outrageous head unit for 10 bucks - go online ( say wes electronics ) and buy stupidly good/loud/funny drivers for 10 bucks or better still a audiophile supplier and pay 20 bucks and build a studio /club sized system in your car

its much more fun to have then a microphone !

some 25 years ago I had eight auratones lined up on the rear parcel shelf of my Holden Kingswood.
Did it sound good...not really but it was pretty funny. And secondhand auratones were a dime a dozen back then.

my only gripe was getting a mad system, selling my car, then having to build ANOTHER one...that was tyhe only thing stopping me....bad excuse i know !! also, my ears will not thank me listening to music with loud subs, i know it!!!

altho, time and money will change my mind...i know it.

ps. i dont need to buy a swag of mics, so i dont have the same problem as guys here

i had 2 horritones in a honda prelude i had once sounded quite good with the 15" jbl subwoofers i took out of a 4133a or whatever the number big white studio moniters are

but eventually i decided a car with useless back seats is one thing but a useless boot as well made it worse
i got a new girl and she didnt like my taste in music or bass response so for a while i took the stereo out so we could put shopping in the boot !

I dont have the car , the girl, the auritones the jbl or any of the problems that went with any of them anymore

its amazing what you remember when you see somebody else had horritones in their car

holy hell, the argument for buying a subwoofer for my car is incredibly powerful right now. Probably not as powerful as those subs tho.

now...need a nakamichi head for that sub!

and you actually doing it for own enjoyment with MUSIC
not any other reason
install some shakers - they are F@#$ing incredible
i had them in the 64 futura and will put them in another car at some point
just make sure you install a bypass switch !

I just had my ears checked and my hearing was better then their lowest reference scale by 20db !
I have caned my ears at work for over quarter of century now
BUT always worn earplugs (actually tissues) in my ears outside work when anything was loud
and I have never not done this (from 17 years old )

nobody was more surprised then me ( well actually the audiologist was )
that I came in with NO hearing loss

if you really have any issue at all
stop think regroup
you only get one set of ears my friend
take care of them

^ my hearing is still within "perfect hearing" except for left ear, that has dropped by 1dB or so around 250hz and 3K due to a bloody gig i was at...

i've had pro plugs for 5 years now...and im sensitive as all hell, so sometimes even that isnt enough...i've stopped myself from going to live shows regularly, thats helped alot...live sound is friggin aweful tops from hell

you ears can repair themselves depending on what you do to them

dunno about your numbers though maybe book into a different hearing place when you feel good

i had a cold and some back pressure issues on the meter when they tested me so she really was shocked at the readings

and they set me to industrial when i told them i was a sound guy !

then to builders !
then to normal then to child
then off the scale
then to the bottom of the scale
then she was typing it in manually
i think she thought i was cheating .... because i was

i know what testtones and harmonics sound like !


but none of the readings are in 1 db units for ear matching its not how is done so if your in 1 db your all good
its more like if you are good ear to ear within 5-6 db depending on the freq before you would count it as a loss
tinnitus is a whole other issue to freq response of coarse and masking effects and .. and ..

the hoax with the test of coarse is i know what to listen for
so they say press the button when you hear the tone and i say "the 8k one or the 16k harmonic ?"

she says " there is no 16k harmonic" i say "yes there is "

a minute later she says " oh yes i can see it now nobody has ever heard that "
I told her "well nobody was deaf ! "

but she didnt laugh ... what was that all about ..?

still look after them ears - read up on it some more i reckon
hearing loss is not a joke and there are many things that can be done depending on what is going wrong

and yes get them shakers in your chariot

oh yes we should add diet into your choice of listening speakers

if i eat japanese two nights in a row every thing sounds SO much better to me for another day or so
but if i eat japanese all week i cannot afford to drive to work the next week !

if i have been living on junk food and late night sugar fixes.. i get the job done
but i have no sense of wonder about the sound

i suspect its all to do with hystemines as i am allergic to a lot of things
but i decided long ago f@#$ being allergy based - i have a life to live
so i dont run strict food rules

maybe i should live in japan?
