i know there are a couple of guys on here from the sunny coast, and i was wondering what the music scene is like up there...
My partner has family in Buderim, and we'll be looking at moving up there in the next year or so...
i'm thinking out loud here, but what i'd like to do is have a "music hub" with an unlicensed all ages vunue, a few jam rooms and studio....
i tried to find out a few things whilst up there last xmas, but failed to find the "indie/rock scene" if there is one.
any tips on whats going on up there, as well as suggestions on where (which town/area) this would be the most appropriate would be appreciated.

Karl... you might want to check in with Nymo and Angus Woodhead. They live up that way.

Hey Karl,
a few of my friends who work in the local music scene and I have talked about something similar for a while now. There are a couple of places for jam room venues maroochydore way - and the closest thing to the music venue you describe at the moment is the Solbar at Ocean Street - except it is licensed....

yep, will definately be a money pit.... but whattaya gonna do?
i dont have any delusions that this wont cost a fortune, and make nothing...
i have a studio in Adelaide (enough said! haha)
i've toured a bit and played large and small vunues in the major capitals, never on the SC tho.
there are plenty of cool little rooms to play in most places, but usually only have a vocal pa... but always a very cool vibe.
i want to do something that will be a tour destination for indipendant bands... start there and head down the east coast
cameron, would love to chat more... are you on FB? or email best?

Don't listen to the dis-believers
There has been many times in history (in our industry) that people have operated really exiting businesses way outside the capitol cities and made amazing contributions to the industry.
Its what you do that counts.
Go for it.
