Ha!

I was more referring to the session at integrate, but I understand you can only take so many people out
on your harbour cruise, Im disappointed I didn't make the cut, but hopefully the session makes up for it.

I read it in hardback.
I would recommend it as a fascinating and very entertaining read.
Very well written too.

The audiobook is hilarious due to the character accents the narrator does. He does a pretty good Liverpudlian accent, then straight into a very toffee british accent.

Sounds like a dinghy Rick. That's going to be hard to keep the champagne and hors d'oeuvres from tipping over.

I don't see what the big fuss is with Mr Emmerick - I know his past well (and I'm a fan of many of those albums) but its sooooo long ago..............
There are so many great engineers/mixers/producers that have taken the techniques of this time (not solely his) so much further.
If you were a tape op on those sessions you could make a career forever too.
Its all about timing - being in the right place at the right time with the right band in the right studio with the right producer.
Much respect to the man though.

you ok chris , you have had a couple of grumpy posts lately !
cold enough down your way ?

when i get a chance to meet people that know what i know.. but so much more and they are the true source of the much of the information
i am literally all ears !

maybe not in a show and tell presentation... but on a personal level the last guys
massenburg and jackson and after show things i did with them were amazing experiences
so i think emmerick is a very big deal

but i just bought a new heater last week so i am warm and toasty inside :)

unfortunately - it has all turned to shit - hence the immense (understatement) stress ... not a good time to be adding positive additions to this (great) forum....
I'll keep my mouth shut unless I can add something positive here (my normal modus operandi)

I worked with Geoff for a while.
Seemed like a great guy, although I was like peering in from the outside with Paul M and Geoff E in the room.
The old team so to speak.
He used to be quite shy and soft spoken, but I think he's been doing a lot of talks and seminars recently, so he probably has a way to communicate effectively.
You gotta meet these people when you have the chance because soon they are gone and you'll regret never having shook their hand. Thanks for the music.... and all that.
I passed Jeff Porcaro in a hotel corridor back in the early 90's. I hate button-holing people cold, so I just smiled and said hi, thinking I was bound to run into him again one day. 18 months later he was dead.

I spent a day with george martin once
I figured it wasnt cool to ask him about the beatles stuff so we talked about LRB and Olivia and AIR studios
he seemed really into those conversations - i dont think anybody ever asked him about the aussie acts before

I was really just "babysitting him" as he put it we werent working on anything
he was here for the aria awards one time before they got on tele and the chairman of aria worked for festival
so they took him to work and dumped him with me
- "there is some old guy hanging around recorded the beatles or something show him the studios and keep him happy"

we had a major beatles freak working in the studio but thankfully he was away that day

every time some body turned up and started talking to george about the beatles he indicated to me that we should go and check on that "thing " we were doing and we would walk into another room away from the grilling
"it gets horrible tiresome all that old beatles stuff " he said

i cannot decide if i should have asked him about abbey road that the fab four myself
or wether to be happy that he stuck close to me because i didnt !

this was all way before every question you can ever think of about the beatles had been answered so it was open season

i will be curious to watch richard lush and geoff tell the same storys seeing they havent worked together or seen each other since 1974

bound to be fun :)

One thing about that crew, every Beatles story has at least 5 or 6 different versions (yeah..... more than four).
The same thing with Geoff's book in parts. Some of the other guys I know who were there said "really?" with a raised eyebrow.
But I think most of the cold hard facts are lost in the mists of time. Anyway, each differing version is still extremely entertaining to hear. Both George and Geoff are two of the music scene's most gracious gentlemen (arguably from a different age).

I believe they worked together in 2007.
To celebrate it's 40th anniversary, the original Sgt Pepper team reconvened at Mark Knopfler's British Grove studio to re-record the album with contemporary bands (such as Oasis?) using original recording methods and an original REDD desk (owned by Knopf and possibly paid for by Sydneysiders ;) ).
