Recording The Beatles

Is there anyone on this forum who has purchased the Recording The Beatles Book and can share their thoughts on it. It looks very interesting but not being able to see it at that price is a risky purchase. What is it like?

If you are interested in the beatles you won't regret it, the detail they go into is amazing.

It totally depends how passionate you are about The Beatles, the gear they used, the history and stories behind the making of their recordings.
I've read the book in person, not bought it yet.
It's a very high quality product, but the value is in the content and whether you are interested in it.

I had a look at when I was at Mixmasters a while ago. It certainly has every detail you could ever want and more. I guess it represents the best of what was used in the 60s.

i also had a look at mixmeisters, amazing looking publication...for the die hard beatles fan, i cant see how you would now grow a big rubbery one reading that book.

for myself, i couldnt give 2 shits how the beatles were recorded, so...i'd never shell that kinda cash for it.

Well I must say I thought it was worth the money. Many hours of good reading and amazing detail on the gear and techniques of the period.

One of the authors, Brian Kehew was a regular on the former PSW forum before it's demise. By all accounts the book was very well researched. Has his fingers in a few musical pie's with pecording, mixing performing etc. A talented and interesting man I'd say.

It's exhaustive and exhausting... exhaustive in it's detail and exhausting to hold up - it's heavy.
A quality product in every way.

I liked it so much I bought 2 sets because I knew between me and my Beatles-mad son, one copy was not going to do. I am amazed that they only sell the book for the price they do given the quality and packaging. Grab a copy while they are re-printing them.....

Thanks everyone. I'm not a fab four fanatic but I thoroughly enjoy reading about gear and techniques from any genre or period so from what I have gathered I will enjoy this book. Thanks again everyone for your words.

On a side note I read Moylan's The Art of Recording: Understanding and Crafting the Mix http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Cra ... b_image_bk
and it uses many different beatles tracks to demonstrate his analysis methods and critical listing techniques, which a beatles fan would enjoy I'm sure.

Every time I've checked over the past couple of years it's been "out of stock".
They must fly off the virtual shelves - why don't they just print more books!
