Melbourne carpenter or the alike

Postby dave01.cooper » Sat Jul 23, 2011 10:01 pm

Hey y'all,

In the process of building some 30 X 30cm wooden QRD tiles (13 wells in each) to place on the rear concrete wall of my home studio (primarily mix room) to 'scatter' the sound a bit but the designs I'm using have some cuts that I can't do with my simple jigsaw & mitre saw at home.

SO, I was wondering if any Melbourne lad & ladettes know of any good wood fabricators/carpenters around the way that may be able to do these for me?

Not sure if this is the right place to be asking but thought I'd pose the question regardless.

Thanks!
Dave Cooper

Hi Dave,
someone who may be able to do this that we use for various custom work in our 3AW Studios and with our 3AW Mobile / modular studios is Bernie Casey at "Complete Displays"
email bcasey@completedisplays.com.au
sorry I don't have a phone number here, but drop Bernie an email.
They have been doing all sorts of custom woodwork/fabrication of screens and acoutic bits & Bobs for 3AW for many years

Fantastic thanks so much for that Alistair - I'll drop him an email tomorrow.

Weird thing is that I've called about 4 different places around the inner Melbourne region and they all had the same answer of 'Oh we don't normally do custom stuff' or 'I don't understand what your talking about' and practically hung up on me.
Personally I thought a carpenter was meant to be a master of their craft just like any other qualified tradesman. To me doing a custom piece of work would be hell fun even if the overheads did out weigh the work itself.

Meh, rant over - thanks for listening :D

Cheers!

you ringing carpenters
or cabinet makers
or joiners ..?

it makes a big difference
i cannot imagine a carpenter even knowing why you would be ringing

you want a cabinet maker or a joiner - they just about all do custom work
