Yep! That's the same product I linked in my post. They also have a thunderbolt to PCIe 2.0 Chassis product coming. Only holds one or two cards compared to magma's 3. Guess we'll have to wait for some guinea pigs to go out and see which one works better for audio PCIe cards such as PT HD systems.

I run all my sessions from my MacBook Pro 17. Love it.

Seems like there are a few MBPs being used - what version O/S are you running? And PT?

With the MBP 17" what are the various USB and FW connectors and have they changed over time (to Thunderbolt?)?

Thinking of upgrading from my iMac, but I have three Firewire devices (external HD, Aurora and UAD Satellite) and more than one midi device (on USB), Digi Midi I/O interface, Maschine and Roland A500 controller keyboard.
Lynx have told me customers are getting good results with their new USB2.0 card. But I don't want to upgrade the Mac and find myself as handicapped as I've been with the iMac.

on the MBP 17" the ports are 3 x USB2, 1 x Firewire 800, 1 x ethernet and 1 x Thunderbolt.

Not that it does any good to me - my MBP was DOA - now I'm waiting for a replacement......

NOTE that Apple support told me that the new MBPs that are shipped with Lion are not backwards compatible with Snow Leopard - can be an issue for PT9 users - apparently only 9.0.5 runs on Lion - I can't confirm that yet though.

Yes, I hear more than one music software item doesn't work in Lion.

Classed as beta. Do you mind being a beta tester for Avid?

I hate Beta versions of anything - you get enough grief with Prod versions. But what's the option? I have a copy of Snow Leopard but can't go backwards on the MBP..... and either way, with a DOA MBP nothing but W7 or Vista is happening ATM.
