PCI I'm not so sure about - the PC industry has been warning about the end of PCI for some years now - that was just advancement and as inevitable as the demise of ISA /EISA. S/w support for an EOL interface is thus pretty unlikely. Most companies have the n-1 stance to get them off the hook from supporting older versions.
