blacklion 002 clock and mic pre mods?

ok. so i dunno if you've heard about it, but blacklion offers a mod for the 002 preamps (ch. 1>4) and a clock upgrade which purportedly inproves timing to 10 picoseconds.

(remember black lion from the 3630 upgrades which made the unit usable?)

i am currently sourcing a parts pack and all info from the black lion posse.

next step will be to find a SMT-friendly repair dude (pref. in melbourne) who can take on the mods.

can anyone recommend anyone?

do make sure you find some who can so this job properly.

I've heard of a guy here in Adelaide who got the kit and installed it himself.

Now he has a door stop.

wel, blacklion advised me that they now don't actually supply the parts in kit form - they only do the mod as fitted by themselves.

they said the best thing i could do was remove the boards from inside the 002 and ship them over the pond to the US of A.

i think not, tinky winky.

scrap that plan, move along. nothing to see here.

I got the same story with my MOTU 828.

My impression is that the guy runs Black Lion as a second job, is big on ideals and wants to help, but is just not set up to really do anything more than local North America. A lesson in managing customer expectations.
