Thank you Lee.
I was going to suggest recycling materials, some clever double use ideas and keepin it real to your needs as a way of pushing the costs down. I reckon this book will give some good across the board science (with pics and illustrations :) ). Thanks for starting the thread off.

On another note, our first batch left London yesterday. Roger said 4 days which means wednesday. I have my doubts it will be that swift. Looks like I should be able to send payment for second batch on monday evening.

Cheers Nick.

I need your help guys.
Roger just returned my email inquiry about the books weight. He says it's 3.5KG.
I've just called my local PO and asked about the satchels for posting the book. The maximum weight of Aust post satchels is 3KG. :(
I can put it in a 5kg bag and wrap the book in cardboard and bubble wrap and hope that it's under 5 kg's. This option is $20.85 anywhere in Australia. I will take care of the cardboard and bubbles.
or.....Does anyone have any good idea's in this department?

The second batch of books are due to leave London on Thursday which should see them here next wed/thurs 15th.
Ideally I'd like to get these books to you guys the cheapest way, quickest way and without them being harmed.

Alastair may drive down to KV for a cuppa and pick up the Sydney guys books but this would depend on his heavy schedule. And would need to happen between 15th and 19th Dec (before I go south). You would need to pick up from him though.
Melbourne guys - I'm headed your way over xmas, however I'm spending most of my time at Olinda and Flinders. Although I'm heading through Melbs on Tuesday 27th towards Daylesford (but would have limited time to do drop off's).

These are the people from both batches needing post;
1st Batch people;
Alastair R - can do pickup for Sydney guys (Sydney)
Manning B - see above (Sydney)
Barney L - needs post (Melb)
Myles M - needs post (Melb)
Angus W - needs post (Beerwah QLD)
Steve L - needs post (Central Tablelands)

Second Batch buyers;
Peter H (Tunetown)- postage paid (Sydney)
Peter H (Peat) - needs post (Sydney)
Nick F - needs post (Sydney)
Lee M - needs post (Sydney)
Chris T- needs post (Tasmania)
Owen B - needs post (Sydney)

Peat, Nick and Owen work at the same place which makes them easier.

Let's throw some idea's around and I'm sure we can have this nutted out fairly soon.

I'm sure no one here would mind throwing in a few extra bucks on their postage so you can buy a big roll of bubble wrap, Ben.

This endeavor shouldn't cost you anything after all your hard work!

Of course you can send mine, Owens and Peats to work.

If Alastair can't meet your schedule then I'll fill in. A drive to KV will please the wife no end. If this is needed, I'd come down on the 17th and (ideally) pick up all the Sydney books from shipments 1 & 2.

I live in Epping, I work in Burwood, my wife works in Woollahra and the studio is in Glenorie. One of those should be in proximity for all the Sydney people.

Ben, I'd be happy to pick up mine from Manning in Sydney. If it's any help you can use my extra postage money to buy the bubble wrap you need. If you require any more, I'd also be happy to kick in a few extra bucks.

Please don't be out of pocket here.

Cheers

Burwood would be super easy to pick them up from as I'm in the area a lot and Nick lives near there too. I also don't mind paying a bit extra for the shipping if Manning can't pick them up!

Hi Ben,

I can arrange to get my book collected in Sydney. Burwood pick up would work (via Manning) or via Glebe (via your friend). Either would work for me, no need to post.

Sorry Steve I forgot briefly about Glebe pickup. I'm not in Sydney until early next year now as I went up the last few days and will be away on a break down south over xmas. Can give to either Manning or Alastair. Cheers

Hi Ben..
If you're passing through melbourne perhaps you could drop them off at a studio (maybe Coloursound?) and we could collect at our leisure?

Postby Ben M » Wed Dec 07, 2011 9:31 am

Thanks everyone for being cool. I just don't want to keep putting costs on our great deal that's all.

So it seems either Alastair R or Manning will be picking up in KV for the Sydney guys.
Looks very likely I will drop off at Coloursound in Melb if I visit Mat (providing he's at the studio on the 27th Dec and not in a session). I will Pm him to see if this suits.

Just means Angus W and Chris T will need to pay post. I insist on keeping this at postage cost only so it will be $20.85 and packed well with bubbles and cardboard (I like bubbles... clack clack! and always have some on hand) in a 5 kg post bag. Angus you've given me too many $$ already just another $10 to fix your post. Chris T will be $20.85. Same bank details as before.
I will post to both Angus and Chris T from the 1st batch of books that come in. I have both of your addresses.

Sorry to keep spelling out this list but it helps me keep on top of it.
1st Batch people;
Alastair R - (Sydney) KV pickup
Manning B (2 books) - (Sydney) KV pickup
Barney L - Melb drop off - Coloursound.
Myles M - Melb drop off - Coloursound.
Angus W - paid post
Steve L - (Sydney) KV pickup

Second Batch buyers;
Peter H (Tunetown)- postage paid (Sydney) KV pickup
Peter H (Peat) - (Sydney) KV pickup
Nick F - (Sydney) KV pickup
Lee M - (Sydney) KV pickup
Chris T- paid post
Owen B - (Sydney) KV pickup

Damn fun police!
If you'd asked I would've taken the plastic wrapper off so you could've slipped in a few sneaky glimpses while "she who must be obeyed" wasn't looking. :D

Had a nice chat with Alastair R about tape machines and broadcast limiters etc at pickup in KV... Very nice to catch up.

Hoping the other batch shows up today or tomorrow at the latest. Then Manning will be down to KV on Saturday.

Indeed I will be down to KV on Saturday.

Assuming the final shipment arrives, I'll will have all of the Sydney shipment (excluding those Alistair collected).

All of the books will be in my car from Monday onwards, and can be retrieved from Burwood during the day or Epping at night. If people need to make other arrangements let me know.
