Anyone here have any experience with these?
I'm about to order main PCB's, power PCB's and case kits for a pair of these (and an Opto5 LA2A), and wondered if anyone has used or has one or both of these. I've seen a few good reviews of both of these and it's a good way for me to own a pair of Sta-Levels..
Thanks!

Hi Danny, I don't have those, but do have a Drip Four-Seven (1/2 built at the moment). The boards and manuls are certainly first class. probably the best quality boards I've seen in audio

Re: Drip Sta-Level
Thanks Alastair... That's what I've gathered kind of lurking along the edges for some time. I've ordered 2 Sta's, 2 PSU PCB's, and an Opto 5 A2A. (And the cases from another fellow on the Drip boards).
I am looking forward to them.. I'll do the LA2A first just to get a sense of how Drip things go then do the Sta's.. If it all goes well I'll salt away for a 670, (and a second Opto 5).. They build on those runs about $4-5k from what I understand but you get a first rate piece of gear when you finish..
I've got this tube-compressor bug right now.. I hope these go as well as I think they will.. My main concern is that I can sort out the power boards for 240vac.. shouldn't be too big an issue though.
now to start making my mouser list..

Re: Drip Sta-Level
Better post some samples when you're done!
If you're gonna order a big batch of parts from Mouser, check the prices in US $$$ (you can change it on the top of the shopping cart page). You have to pay for shipping even if it's over $200, but the exchange rate will work really well in you're favour. I saved about $80 of an order last time I did this.

Alastair, you are a bona-fide champion!
Using US dollars, (even before the conversion), allows me to save roughly $300. I owe you a cold one or three.. (or a hot coffee if you're like me).

I'll take the beer! I was pretty pleased when I figured that one out- it makes a huge difference on big orders.

Re: Drip Sta-Level
Great idea Alistair, I'll consider that next time too.
Danny, I'm about halfway through an Opto4 (w fast/slow feature) and have two V72s waiting to be built.
I'd lend you my opto to check out if it was already finished but haven't had the time to work on it... Will hopefully have it done within the next 4 weeks. Also keen to build a STA-level, two 175s, two 124s and a 670
Let me know how you go with the kits, and if you ever need to borrow my opto let me know too.
cheers

Thanks Nath... I may have a squizz or a question or three as I go. Everything is now ordered and on it's way. I've tried to keep the cost of every 'group' under what will incur duties and GST so I should be cool.. The sowters are getting close though.
I'll do a second Opto 5 so that I have a pair as with the Sta's.. Then I'm likely to do two of my own PEQ's and a couple of MEQ's at the same time.. There is also the Porter net eq that looks very nice, (as a stereo version).. but I won't decided for sure until I get ready to build them. Looks like it will be a DIY year.
When I am certain of my confidence in these.. I'll do the 670. That's my ultimate goal. The ones I've seen guys finish based on the Drip sound beautiful. (at a heck of a lot less money than it would take to buy one).
When I get everything going I'll let you know and you can come by if you want.. or at the very least we'll have a play with them when they're finished.
She's going to end up shooting me one day.....
Peace!
