SOLD - FS: Pair of AKG C12B Tube Condensers

Hi All,

Although I sold these late last year but the deal fell through and it's taken me a couple of months to get around to listing again.

I am looking for $5500 for the pair

Since listing last time I have upgraded the stand mounts to the Telefunken units I had listed with them, this makes them heaps easier to use as the original mounts were pretty fragile and it turned out one of them was pretty far gone.

I used these as a replacement.

Images with the new mounts can be seen at the following link and I will include 2x AKG H85 Shockmounts, same as a 414 is supplied with. I will supply the buyer with all of the original parts that can be easily refitted if desired. There are also a couple of photos with the original stand mounts still fitted so you can see what they used to look like, these parts are included in the sale.

These use the same capsule as the revered C12 & ELAM 251 and share the exact same circuit as the C12A with the only change being the addition of a switchable 20db pad between the capsule and tube which makes them a bit more versatile for louder sources.

The pair were serviced by Rob Squier about a year ago and have had little use since.

Both have the original brass CK12 capsules, both have healthy nuvistor tubes, one of which was replaced when Rob serviced them with a NOS RCA unit. Both have had new cables fitted using Mogami W3172 tube mic cable. Rob also replaced the connectors into the PSU as the originals were in poor shape, he did a first class job with some bullet proof din connectors.

I have also done a couple of 20-20K frequency sweeps I performed to test the mics and also check against each other for balance. Please ignore the actual frequency response as this was done in an untreated room using Fuzzmeasure through an ADAM A7X with the mics 1m from the speakers, fairly crude but gives a good enough reading to see that the mics are very close to each other in response. The attached pdf's are of the mics in cardioid mode, each mic separately and then the two overlaid to show the differences, also a plot of an ECM8000 reference mic showing what the room and speaker was actually doing.....roughly. I also have omni and both sides of figure 8 if you want them.

Just turning on the the pair of c12a's that i work with at the studio, how i also wish i was a rich man!
these on overhead with a subkick (+ half decent drummer) and you have a really nice drum sound before even adding any close or colourful mics to the mix. really beautiful mics

Yes, Rob cleaned the capsules when he serviced them.

I don't have any pics of them but could do if needed, I'm just a bit reluctant to pull them apart, gettting the grille of over the capsule is fiddly business.

I was contemplating these, but have concluded that I will just build a C12.

It would be a positive move on your behalf to show pics of the CK12s.As anyone who invests in an orig CK12 equipped mic would intimately know that the CK12 is the heart and engine room of the mics you are selling.
