Lexicon PCM 80 repair

Yesterday my PCM80 suddenly decided not to boot - which is a major drag as it gets a lot of use. Is there anyone around here prepared to look at/service such things or have experience with Lexicon service in America? ( i can't imaging a sending it to the US would be economically sensible)

lindsay if it just suddenly decided not to boot , that is either really good or really bad

my advice before you send it anywhere is pop the top of it ( power off of coarse )
and have a look see inside for anything charred

give all the chips ( in sockets ) a firm but gentle push with your thumb
most likely you will hear a subtle but obvious "crack" as you push down on the chips
this reseats them .. i have never ever broken one .. its normal secret tech fixit stuff

turn it on and see how you go

and of course there's the old fuse to check if there are no lights at all...

And re-seat any ribbon cables. I fixed a dbx unit like that.

Thanks people. Will do the obvious checks as mentioned. Although, the lights still cycle partially through their routine so I am not holding out for the fuse thing. Also Futureman has offered to give it the once over

Mine was doin some weird thing on bootup, stuck in a loop where it would only get to a certain point. I though it might be bad ram, but after a factory reset the problem went away and has never come back. I have the service manual as a pdf if you need it.

Dont expect much from JANDS - they dont keep much of the replacement items for discontinued models (if any!)
I wanted a couple of PCM70 buttons but they never even bothered to return my calls or emails.
Poor customer service from their repair dept..
