Well I'm totaly disapointed by the lack of integrity of the show........ they called it "The Voice" for god's sake!.... and so far there has not even been a mention of John Farnam! I'd be sueing them if I where him! :ar!

We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make the noise and make it clear, oh, woah
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear, oh, woah

Continuing my vain efforts to talk about anything other than reality TV, I'm quite fond of Kate Miller-Heidke's version of "You're The Voice".

I've also met Dweezil a few times, and yes, he is a lovely guy, and a superb guitarist. Still being the son of someone so famous/respected must be a drag, constantly being compared.

Frank Zappa tends to provoke extreme reactions in people, those who enjoy it tend to the slightly fanatical (guilty), and others tend to try to avoid it at all costs.

You are lucky fellows indeed. It would be hard to live in the shadow of someone as talented as FZ.

All I can say is "there are those who love FZ and those who are still to understand him"

Put me in no man's land then.
I LOVE the fact he existed.
I like a couple of his albums.
And that's it.

From a musical pov, all these singing shows produce are copy cat RnB type singers that have little or no real musical talent whatsoever!! There must be at least 50 winners now from these type of shows and apart from Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll and that girl with the dark skin?? the rest have all faded into obscurity precisely because they have no real musical talent!! What does that tell you if only 3% still have a reliable career? These shows are just scams imo!

If one can believe the ratings these shows are just what the public wants. Perhaps watching "average" performers lets the viewers think "yeah, I could do that" ..... speculation only :-?

What people want to watch & what they want to listen to are two separate things. Don't believe for a second that because these TV shows rate that this is where the music's at.

lol, the public like what marketing companies tell them to....this can be seen by just how bad music gets, and people willing to listen to it, and think they love it.

+1.......
.........it's where TV and media in general is at, and who owns the TV stations? Ha The same kind of people who publish that poor excuse for a newspaper the Hereld Sun etc etc. ......what a commentary on insipid vested interests.

I'd really like to see one of these talent shows focus on original new music.

Um, that would probably end up worse for the performers than the current situation. The above article indicates that the record company takes a 50% "songwriter" credit on all material the artist writes, even if not connected to the TV show. Plus they demand a cut of any recording income, again regardless of whether it is connected or not.

Ok, Wow! I didn't read the article...how horrendous. I had no idea they were selling that much of their soul at the crossroads.

Stick it to me guys but I am blown away with the vocal ability of many of those contestants; forget about the politics of it all, purely to sing well and in some cases excellently in that environment is no mean feat.

Aus idol etc,etc have never had an overall roster of such high quality.

I have previously seen some of the yank version and the vocal ability, audio quality and judges personas were well below what's happening here.

It may not turn your wheels as a personal preference but from where I sit it's of a high standard if you can handle the genre.

Just my $0.02

Cheers, Ross
