Re: WTB: Valvestate 8100
Um, lol, are you guys serious?
For what it's worth, i am a massive extreme metal whore, (along with loving other higher fidelity music styles)
Im refering to the older 80/90s model...not the newer ones.
But, listen to this:

If you're a fan of Sepultura, Death, Nu Metal etc...these are the shit. They have a brighter/fizzier, less refined tone, but when you want to sand peoples faces off, thats just the ticket.

Re: WTB: Valvestate 8100
I have an Ampeg VT-120... but that's more a fender/musicman vibe than a metal thing, although the lead channel is pretty hot. Freaking loud though.
EDIT... oh i see, you're looking for solid state amps... carry on.

Re: WTB: Valvestate 8100
Jamil there is a mystery
Valvestate combo in my shed
Is that of any interest to you ?
Just say yes or no before I spend 1/2 hour looking
For it
As I recall it was about the size of 2x 12 box
But it may be 2x 10
Lots of knobs .. Lots of knobs
Totally forgettable as far as I am concerned
Might be the combo version ?
Dunno
Will I look ?
Or are you just wanting a head ?

Re: WTB: Valvestate 8100
I used to have one of those Marshall 8240's. It had actually been "souped up" by the previous owner. No idea how. It sounded pretty good for what it was, but a bit sterile for my tastes, i.e. not good for Telecasters. I think it's still around somewhere in the the same building as my studio.

Re: WTB: Valvestate 8100
I've got one. Not that I really wanted to admit it in public, heh. Is that what you called me about when I was off chops on pethidine in hospital? Sort of remember dreamilly looking at my phone and noticing a message and pressing dial. I think you were as confused as I was, heh. Was like 3 hours after hernia surgery. Felt like I was in a Pink Floyd song.
Anyway, amp is pretty buggered but still works sort of, most knobs are stuck in position and has some weird gain issue. Call when you want I'm good now.
