Myspace media player dilemma

I would like to know what the "best" file format is to upload music on myspace. And by "best" i mean one that does not add those horrible swirly artifacts around the upper midrange causing it to sound shrill and harsh. I mainly hear it around the high hats, vocals, bright guitars and cymbals. Myspace allow a 50mb upload limit per track, which means now we don't have to upload mp3's anymore. In the past I tried a variety of mp3's and this lead me to believe that either the mp3's are the problem OR the media player is the problem. I just uploaded 5 aiff files straight from the master and the same problem is happening, which currently narrows it down to their media player. I can also hear the same artifacts on some of my favorite bands music too, which makes me feel better but does not explain the reason for this. Can someone please tell me why this is happening and how I could prevent it?

LOL...i had this same bullshit problem 5 yrs ago uploading my bands stuff on myspace.....

myspace has seeerious bandwidth limit (frequencies)...

There were suggestions online to actually put a low pass filter on the music to improve the quality...
other suggestions were to download a "myspace player simulator" VST which you could tweak EQ and compression and limiting on, to get passable results...

Another option is to use a vimeo player, or soundcloud account, and get someone who's good at HTML to modify your page using <soundcloud> tags to play music....or vimeo, or any other higher quality music player. This was possible on the old myspace layout, it may or may not be possible now...

Myspace player sounds like balls, period.

Well like most things I guess I just expected it to improve by now.

Thanks for the new direction guys now I can move on to better and (not so) brighter places.
