Any one have/used one? Care to share your thoughts? Any other 500 series racks that are worth looking into? (besides the api stuff)

Cheers,
Ryan.

My usual reply is build a GroupDIY 51x series case. You can find info at classicapi.com
I've built two, they are very solid, with dual sets of power rails and also cheaper.

I would expect that most racks are OK for most modules. But Radial is trying to push its version with a proposal for a special pinout. Same with the Purple Audio rack. These allow one or two extra connections for things like DI in, or compressor side-chain access. The Radial and Purple use the same pins for this (not that there are a lot spare!).

As yet, only the 8-slot Radial with the mixer seems to be available. I think: why pay for a mixer I'm not going to use? The extra pins for beefier power rails, which some vendors of 500-compatible modules are using, makes the Group DIY one attractive, but there's no option for additional I/O which a few modules might offer as well.

So the Radial would be out for me, and then it's a hard choice between an API, Purple or GDIY.

As they say on the internet, YMMV.

How much did the GroupDIY build end up costing?

Yes, I have one of the newer API 6 slots and it's hard to fault it IMHO.

A big yes from me too. Very easy build.
